Default Need your advice on two 1990's machines

I received an email today from someone who wants to sell me the two machines pictured below with approx 1,500 balls for $100. I don't know anything about these machines, and she says that they work "intermittently". Your guess is as good as mine as to what that implies. I have asked her to explain if the issue is electrical or ball jam related, but no response as of yet. I know the balls make the deal worth the cash, but I currently have about 5,000 new balls sitting in boxes in my shop, so I really don't need any more at the moment.

Does anyone know what these machines are and if they are fun to play? Any info you all could provide would help me to decide if they are worth the cash or not.

    Thanks in advance!

I finally received a response from the seller: "Sometimes I turn them on and they will work, other times I cannot get them to work at all, they only light up..."

Any thoughts? (I'm a vintage guy)

The first one is 綱取物語 (video is a video game simulation), which I'm reading as Sumo Story, made in 1993 by of course, Heiwa.

The second is 黄門ちゃま, Koumontyama (?) probably from pretty close to the same time

In my opinion, if you are not electronically inclined, this may not be the deal for you. There is nothing worse than having "a machine that lights up" but 1) the shooter doesn't work or 2) the video display doesn't work...especially if you know nothing about how to fix it. There are many here that do, but I'm not one of them and it sounds as if you are in that same boat.

Just thought I'd present another side to the situation.
I'm not addicted to Pachinkos. I can quit at any time. Did I tell you about the three machines that I have on the way?

They are digi-pachi. If they work 'sometimes,' I'd guess they work. The earlier moderns I've acquired have all had sensitivity drift on the shooter, and frequently will refuse to shoot balls unless you touch both the ring and the metal frame. Baffling unless you know what is causing it. This is a simple adjustment, just a matter of finding the pot.

Check video carefully. CRTs (possible in that vintage) go wonky and lack adjustments. What you see is likely what you're stuck with.

I'm more fond of the hanemono types. (I like deterministic play, want my randomness physical, not computer generated.) I actually sold my first digi modern because it didn't interest me, but my older digi modern has a theme I love and therefore is fun to play. There's something amusing about flinging lots of balls.

If it is a local pickup AND one of the themes appeals to you, I'd say go for it.

    The first is Tsuantori Monogatari

    The second is pronounced Koumon-chama

I've played neither of these and can't recommend either - but remember them well from when in Japan - they are good looking machines! Like TailTrauma, I'm not a deji-fan though, so...
There is always another machine around the corner...

Thanks to all for the input. After sleeping on the decision, I have decided to pass. If there is anyone in this forum that would like these machines, Please let me know. I will post them to new thread in the Craigslist section with a more appropriate title.
