Default Got a new cargo trailer

I just had to brag a bit about my new military trailer. It's a beauty! I bought it from government surplus for $150.00. It's a 1988 model M105A2 1-1/2 ton trailer complete with 24-volt lighting system and air brakes. The camouflage paint is less than one year old and the whole thing looks like new!

I'm mostly going to use it with my military truck in parades and displays, etc.

cool ! very great price ! it seems that our military usually overbuilds things ,so you should get many years of use from it .it looks like you might need a humvee to tow it with ,though.if you come across any of those cheap, let me know .i want one too.

I own an M35A2 deuce and a half as well. This trailer goes perfect with it.

    So let's see the truck!

Oops, just found it in your album, no winch, huh?

    Multi-fuel engine?

Okay, but it's not as cool as the trailer. So far the deuce has been in 3 parades and 2 military vehicle rallies.

I bought the 1978 deuce and a half in Utah through government surplus and had it shipped to Washington state. It's been great other than a faulty fuel pump that cost $250 to fix. It had 7,500 miles and 260 hours on it when I purchased it. It now has over 9,000 miles on it. The motor is multifuel, though I just run diesel in it so the filters don't get plugged up with gunk. It's 6 wheel drive, rockwell axles and has high/low 5-speed spicer transmission. As for options, it has a hard top cab and a cab heater.

No winch. It's one of the few options I wanted, but didn't get. A winch truck is usually $2000 more.

    Looks great!

Had it shipped back? Didn't want the excitement of trying to get it home yourself?

    Now you need a DUKW

I'd love to get one of those (I've already got the helmets, gotta have those!), but with a winch (cause I'm dumb enough to get myself stuck) and soft top, so you can fold down the windshield - the 'wind in your face' feeling

I see some interesting things on DaBay!

Nope. Unfortunately they don't tell you a thing about the truck you are bidding on. It was too far away for me to see in person, so I took a chance the truck was in decent shape and bought it anyways. Fortunately, when it got here the truck was in running condition and needed vary little work. It could vary easily have needed new brakes, transmission, engine, etc. The only thing wrong was a fuel pump located in the tank.

The next vehicle I REALLY want to get is a WWII era Jeep.

I hear you about the soft top. I live in Washington, (AKA the rain state) and would hardly ever put the top down. A hard top made more sense over here.

That truck is absolutely awesome!! Driving it must be a blast!!

I remember meeting a guy years ago that bought and restored Unimogs. He had kind of a reputation around town in Denver. No matter where he parked it, it would attract attention. I thought those things were super cool. Although I think your truck would kick butt on one of those.

    How fun!!!

No kidding about attracting attention. I almost hate to drive it. Every time I go to the store, someone meets me out in the parking and they have to look it over. There's usually a story about how he rode in one of "those trucks" when he was in the military. These trucks were in service from the 1950's through now so you get a WIDE range of people and a lot of interesting stories. It's fun though. I don't mind showing it off. It's just kind of a pain when you are in a hurry.

Yes sir! Though I usually keep them folded up. Much more room for cargo.

Guess I should post this as well. Here's a video from the front windscreen of my deuce. It was fun to make, mostly because it gave me a reason to drive the truck. Sorry about the shaking. The truck bounces and my camera mount wasn't the best.
