    Default Satomi San Diego Arrival

The Satomi San Diego just arrived. Wasn't too sure how I'd feel about this machine since it seemed similar to others plus the theme is not too interesting IMO. Well, I'm glad I shipped it over. It is actually unlike any other machines I've seen yet. When a ball goes into one of the three pass thrus at top of playfield, the respective tulips at bottom open and close for about 5 seconds. For example, when a ball goes thru the top center pass thru labeled ABCD, the four tulips open and close with two opening while the other two close for the duration. It's cool to see and hear them clicking open and shut. As for the machine itself it came with about 3dozen old tokens, a set of keys, and an elusive number plate as well as all the original factory signs, notices, and stickers on the inside. Lots of the mini lamps are burned out and the machine shipped with two panes of glass which of course broke. But it's intact and pays and plays properly. I'll have pics posted a d hopefully a vid later this evening. I just had time to unpack it and make sure it works before heading out to a chick flick. It's a small price for the arepachi acquisition permission.

Thanks for the complement, Mopar. I'm undecided about the playfield. It has grown on me but I really like the Satomi playfield with the sci-fi woman. The rest of the machines are the same with the exception of the center. We'll see...

Removed the 4 circuit boards and cleaned them as well as their headers. Got all of the tokens, balls, and glass bits out as well. Next one from Japan I will reiterate to the shipper to remove the glass. Still no other damage from being shipped all that way and made it here in a week so not a bad deal, just pricey.
Anyway, here are a few more pics:
The first one is a close up of one of the circuit boards and it's cover. This one sits just above the power supply in the coin dispenser mech/power supply assembly. On the board itself is the switch that controls whether the max payout will be 5 or 10. It's located on the right edge above center. There's also an LED that glows red when the power is on.
2nd pic is the factory spec sheet showing the power supplies, dimensions, etc. It's the first one I've seen whole and intact and legible. So that's cool from a historical standpoint.
3rd pic is of two of the tulip solenoids. The spring under the plastic lever is what pushes up and closes the tulip since the solenoids only push down with force. Also visible is the metal chute that the balls fall through. All other chutes I've seen on other machines are plastic.
4th pic is inside top of machine-very clean overall.
    5th pic is of inside
6th pic is of inside back showing coin mech, and power supply. Also visible are the tokens that came with it and the overrflow jug. To the left is the circuit board shown in pic 1. The metal tab beneath it can be pulled out and pushed up which causes the board to slide upward on tracks for removal.
Last pic is dim to show the lit numbers. The two is also lit but it's an original bulb and very dim. I had enough bulbs on hand to replace all but one.

Could we get some close ups of the different tokens.

And was wondering about the key for your arepachis. Can any be duplicated? And a picture?

In both pics the left key set is for a Jan Ball and the right key is a Satomi.
The tokens are the same, just both sides. As far as key duplication, I don't know. These are unlike any other vending type key that I've seen.

The cell art is growing on me. It's much better in person and the bright colors are nice as well.
The number plate is a free floating plastic piece that rests between both panes of glass. This is the first machine I've seen in person that wasn't missing that part. I think many broke overtime and/ or were removed by parlor owners anytime they had to clean the machine and it's glass. Since they aren't required for game play them they were just left out.
