    Default Reels wont stop spinning

I have a machine and from a little research i believe it is a Pachislo. It says Taiyo on it and the theme is maffia. When i turn it on and put coins into it and hit the start button it turns the reels but none of the 3 stop buttons make the reels stop.

If i need more info on this machine for diagnosis let me know where to look for model numbers etc...

check and reseat any connections you can see, especially ones connected to the back on the buttons, then track those and see where they are connected.

I have taken out and reseated all the connectors i can see and get to. I also took out the button switch mechanisms (as they go in and turn to lock on the buttons) and switched out the known good one(start button) with one of the stop buttons and it still starts but wont stop. When i turn the power off and back on it will usually start spinning the reels again on its own. All the wires from the buttons goes into a circuit board located on the back side of the door which also houses all the lights.

    Hi,

That is a Pre 2000 Pachi. Does it have a Board in it that looks like any of these?

These are the Reel Stop Boards. If so check the fuse on it and re seat the 30 pin connector on the first two (there are two tabs, one at each end of the connector. Push on these at the same time twoards the Board and the ribbon cable connector will pull off the Board) or the four connectors on the third one if you have not done so already.

Sounds like it may also be related to the reel start knob? Does this machine have buttons with lights installed?

Older machines will have metal buttons with a light above the buttons indicating you can stop that reel with the button below. Newer models have lit buttons that will either be unlit when they are not ready to use, or another color.

For example, one of my Rodeos has illuminated buttons that are red. When the reels have been spun with the knob, the buttons turn blue, but only when the spin knob has been released. The blue indicates the above reel can be stopped with the button. Likewise, some other machines will have unlit buttons, or, as with my oldest machine, an unlit indicator light above the button and below the reel. The lights will only illuminate for those reels once the spin knob has been released.

My guess is that possibly your machine has received the signal that the knob has been pressed and started the reels spinning, but it has not received the signal that the spin knob has been released, allowing use of the stop buttons.

Does jiggling the knob have any effect? It may be a good idea to remove that assembly and clean it if possible.

I remember from other threads issues with the reels not getting up to full speed, or it not seeing them at speed and it waiting for that before letting you stop the reels

Are there LED's on the Main PC Board or any Board inside of the Pachi? If so start pressing Buttons and see if an LED will lite up for each one activated. Also if you do have LED's in there are any on constantly? (stuck button)

    Buttons to check. :

    The 3 Stop Buttons
    The Spin Knob
The MAX bet Button (if it has one) and all bet Buttons
Pay out Button (pays back Tokens that are banked on the counter)

Being a Pre 2000 Pachislo it does not have Lit Stop Buttons. It is a 1, 2 or 3 bet Machine, Type-A - 5 lines Play.

Any luck checking the fuse on the Stop Board?

Pic's would be a great help. Inside and out.

here are pics of the inside and outside. I have unplugged all the small plugs and all the main plugs with the two prongs you have to push to release. It is still not working. It has buttons that you push with no lights in them.

Interesting machine. I haven't seen that one before. It looks as if the stop buttons are mounted horizontally rather than vertically. I also don't see a reel spin knob.

the fuse your looking for is on a card about 3"x5" usually mounted on the inside of the cabnet on the left side . should have a small fuse on it . if its blown replace it once if it blows again dont repeat anymore . heres a few questions are all three reels spinning at the same speed ? are any of them jerky ? are any of them rubbing anything slowing them down ? if any of these problems exists the reels wont reach their required speeds and the hold buttons will not be enabled. also a stuck button will also make it spin and not stop put some windex on a rag and press each button in and clean around the pushed button do not spray the windex directly on the hold buttons . do it to all the switches including the spin and credit buttons . also unplug each button one at a time and try spinning the reels and stopping if you remove one and the others work youll have found your shorted switch . good luck

The reel stop board? Isn't that normally on the right side, closer to the top?

Was there a manufacture date in any of that? I'd be interested to know the year of this machine.

I found a fuse on the side of the reel case(i guess thats what you would call it. Holds all the reels) and it was good. Thats the only fuse i can find in all of it. There is only two circuit boards that have and resistors etc on them. One that looks like the main one on the inside of the back(shown in pic) and the one on the side of the reels.

Its all in Japanese so i cant read any writing on it. There is a sticker on the back that has japanese writing and it says 1995-9. Maybe thats the manufacture date?

If your talking about inside the case(pic of the reels) its just a bracket that holds the wooden case together. looks brown in the pic but its gold.

This is a shot in the dark but it just may be that the wire lead coming from the back of the reel stop buttons has been plugged into a neighboring socket. When you open the door to examine the back count from the right side 4 and 5. those two leads come out from the front very close together and just may be switched!. In your picture of the back of the door I can see those wire leads and they are close. Also the sockets they plug into appear to be identical. Maybe just a mix up!
    Good luck!

Oh by the right side, I am referring to the door hinge side!! count over 4 and 5 from the hinges!
