Default chewy's first pinball... 1964 williams san francisco

here she is. I think she's quite the beauty and probably collectable? at least here in the SF bay area. check out the china man (I really wonder if chinese people here ever dressed like that).

drove from sac'to to morro bay, back to salinas, then to berkeley, with parents driving back to sac'to

the guy that sold it thought it was rusty, but I think it looks pretty standard greasy and dusty, myself. small bits of mold under the glass.

we did take the legs off. the upper part did not fold, and I didn't want to take it off b/c there is a mechanically linked arrow that points to the different colors that you try to shoot for on the playfield, for bonus points.

    first questions:

how does the top glass unlock? LT said there's a latch or something behind the coin area? then you can lift the playfield and prop it up?

how do I drill out the lock in the upper part? can I take a small saw and cut off the tongue to the lock, or better to drill out the cylinder?

I know that I have hours of research ahead of me, but to start off, what are favorite pinball repair sites? is there a friendly forum like pachitalk that I could join? (I really doubt there's any forum with people as nice as here )

I am guessing this thing works AC all the way? full 110 v?

a whole 'nother adventure in restoration... can hardly wait, but frankie is first...

Chewy worked on alot of those in my younger years. Where you openned the front their is a latch right under that aluminum rail that goes across the top of the glass . You push it down and lift up the rail and the glass slides out of the front. The back lock is a cheap lock that is easily replaced the best would to drill it out. It just has a thick lever that comes up and down. That back is to thin to force. Call me if you are out by the machine and cannot get it open. Don

Chewy the latch should be directly under the aluminum bar across the front. That is in front of where the coin mech was before you openned the door.

I gather you have not seen the inside of the back of one of these old ones. Quite a bit up their too to run the scoring. Their is alot more trouble with the two player ones than the one player and you think that is bad you should see a four player.

Generally if it was working when bought it should work after moving. Coin mech is at least manual and easy to work on.

nice find especially for 200 bucks ! as for the lock on the back door,it would be best to drill it,so the machine doesn't get damaged.replacement locks are easy to get .in case your game did not have a manual or scematics with it ,check here :Wager Music

Yes that is one of the most valuable Pinball sites on the web if not the most valuable but it should be Thanks "Clayton" Its Clayton Harrell's info not Marvins

Mudfud congrats on the machine and be sure to check that your glass is tempered! Pinball glass has a way of exploding for no reason especially lately.

also join Rec Games Pinball on Google groups and you will get al the info you can possibly need to restore your machine.

Your machine in good condition is in the 2010 Price Guide for $ 600.00 in good plug and play condition. They made 2000 units beginning in May of 64. Pinball Resource in Poughkeepsie NY is your best bet for authentic parts.http://www.pbresource.com.Bay Area Amusements in your area is another good source. Go to Marvin's website marvin3.com for guides on to how to proceed and what tools you will need. Do not,DO NOT start your restoration before reading their guides on electromechanical machines. You can do a tremendous amount of damage and create a nightmare if you start adjusting switches and playing with score reels etc. Good luck.

The guys running and maintaining the EM's were having troubles with that dial mech on the backboard and they got it to work a bit after a whole bunch of work on the floor .

You know i LOOOOOOVE those old EM's My arms were sore for a week after using all the body english i could

I've cleaned my share of relay contacts and the worst is when the contact points are pitted . If they are not then i found this link on how to clean PLATED relay contacts :

So weight = whether something is consider full sized?

By dimensions, all pachinkos and pachislos are full sized, they don't make anything bigger. And yes, I know American slots are bigger, but they're a different animal. And even if you collect those, by your definition, they aren't 'full sized' cause they do make those huge machines too, you'd have to get one of those to have a 'full size' one.
