    The New Machine...

I'm going to set up a Fedex account to see if I can ship it a little cheaper than EMS.

There's no way I'm waiting any longer for this one

    Almost forgot...

I got home from work today with a truck load of materials for the 'Room'

Hopefully, I can get it to the point of firing up the machines this weekend

I did purchase a rope light kit (blue) to put under the front of the counter top, in front of the doors.

The effect was less than appealing.

What I was hoping for, was to have a neon light effect, but these lights don't really cast enough light unless it's totally dark, and then it's still lacking.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a thin type light (1/2" to 3/4" max) that would produce more of a 'Neon' look?

I'm looking for something that will illuminate the front of the cabinet doors, and if it changed colors that would be perfect

The counter is a little over 7' long, so I think something around 6 feet would be perfect

you could get creative and creat your own..

Maybe take a string of small incondescent light bulbs set in to a strip of wood moulding... like the bulbs used on a vintage pachinko...

I was able to get the transformers wired and the machines powered up this weekend.

Also, built an upper cover (black piece) above the machines.

This is where the battle counters will be installed, as well as hanging flags.

Didn't get as much done as I hoped for , but next weekend I will get the entire ball handling system completed

try the IKEA lights that I used in my visible pachi. they come with long cords and 4 very bright light bars. you can set them for solid or alternating colors, fast or slow. about $50. has the transformer and flasher built into the base. well made.

I have used LED ribbon from this place before - OK they are an australian company and you can find this stuff cheaper on ebay for sure. My big problem has been that the stuff I sourced from ebay has had some quality issues (one strip had EVERY LED mounted in reverse on the whole 5m strip!)

Anyway, no matter where you get it from, these are plenty bright, and available in many colours. The Ikea stuff is OK but generations behind in brightness and IMHO overpriced.

All you need for this stuff: Cutter Electronics

is to provide 12v DC. It is self adhesive and really small and thin, and can be stuck on curved surfaces easily. You can cut it to size with scissors (can cut it every 50mm - which is every 3 leds). Every 3 LED segment runs on 12vDC so you can use the left over bits wherever you want!

There are other types here too, if you need it waterproof (indoors I'd say not necessary!):

    Cutter Electronics

So while I have been happy with cutter as a supplier (I am not affiliated with them - I wish I was as LEDs get expensive!) consider this post more of vouching for the LED strips wherever you get them - they should be bright enough and small enough.

Here are the red LEDs I used in this mod for the Indiana Jones Pinball Machine as an example

It shows them being run at 6v (dim) and pulsed at 12v, a good demo of how bright they can be!
