Default Tarot Master coin acceptor issue

    Hello,

I have a Tarot Master with a malfunctioning coin acceptor. The coins drop directly to the payout tray without registering. The acceptor previously worked fine. I did try a reset, but that did not work. Is there a way to test the coin acceptor, or additional troubleshooting steps I can try?

    Thanks

Could be a lot of things. Do you have credits showing? Are you getting any error messages? Are you in a free spin bonus?
Have you checked to see if the coin mechanism is properly adjusted? Maybe the token ramp has been moved too far up or down and the tokens are not registering and get rejected. They have to pass in front of the optical sensor at the correct height to register.
Could be your tokens. Maybe they have to much steel in them and the magnet is rejecting them. Might be worthwhile to adjust the magnet or even remove it.
Could be a lot of things.
Post a picture of the mechanism without the deflector on it and describe what you see when a token goes down the ramp. Someone around here is bound to figure it out.

There is 1 credit showing on the machine. The coin drops directly to the payout tray when inserted. The coin rolls down until the point where it should slide under the metal guide at the top and then drops off the side and down to the payout tray. It seems as though the metal guide at the top is too high. I have attached some pictures of the coin acceptor. I don't believe the machine is in a free spin bonus state as I can't get it to do anythig at this point. I do not see any error messages on the display and have performed a reset several times. The tokens seem to be fine as they work in a second machine I have. Thanks for any help you can provide.

I had an issue like that and after cleaning the tracks with Q-Tips and alcohol, everything was fine. Worth a try

I think you have to raise the coin track up a bit. The tokens are supposed to just go under the lip of the guide above. You need to loosen the screws on the back of the coin mechanism and then move the coin track up until the token is just under the guide so it cannot fall out. About 1/32nd of an inch under the guide. Do NOT raise it too far up or you might have problems with the optical sensor. 1/32nd is fine! Make sure you hold the guide down, (not letting it spring up) when you put the token under it to adjust the height. Do not try to adjust or meddle with the guide above, you can damage it and your coin mech will be ruined. When you have moved the track up, then slide tokens down and along it to see if the token catches under the guide all along the path.
Look at these two photos to see how to loosen the screws and move the track up.

Make sure to replace the coin deflector before you try it out!
    Hope this helps!

I adjusted the coin track up a bit and that seemed to help. The coins will register if I slide them through manually. I now have one problem remaining: the coin deflector is stuck open so each time a coin is inserted it kicks off to the side and drops directly out of the payout chute and never reaches the sensor or the internal payout bucket. This mechanism is spring loaded and is stuck in what appears to be an activated state. Is this controlled by a sensor?

Thanks to all for your help.

Sounds like there is a power issue to the coin mech. Does it click or cycle like when you do a odds reset? Seems like it's staying open .

Check to make sure you have the coin mech properly plugged in.
Make sure the pins in the socket are straight and aligned with the holes in the plug. yes, it is sensor controlled.
By any chance did you unplug the small wire connections on the back of the mechanism? Make sure you have replaced them properly.
Make sure you haven't accidently bent the large metal arm on the back of the mechanism, the one that is over the large electromagnet. In resting position it should be pulling away from the magnet.
Recheck the height adjustment of the token when it is on the track, It has to be sitting on the bottom track and 1/32nd of an inch under the metal retainer on the top of the top. What tokens are you using? Try different types if you have them. Some new tokens will not work and will be rejected.
