Default Importing Pachi's from Japan Star Trek, Star Wars, Eva 4 & 5

Hey all! I am currently working on importing some machines directly from Japan and hopefully everything will go well. So far I've got a total of eight machines being bought for me that will be coming over by slow-boat. So far there are two of each of the following: Star Wars: Vader, Star Trek, Evangelion 4 and Evangelion 5. Since I was going through the trouble of importing them myself I bought an extra one of each thinking that some other people would be interested. If you think you would let me know cause I'd rather give them to someone from PachiTalk then put them up on Ebay. I'll post the pics when i get them.

Did you say GIVE them to someone here?

Hey why not list them in the auction here?

Well I wouldn't GIVE them away, but I was thinking if I couldn't find anyone interested at a good price it's pretty cheap to put them up on ebay with buy it now or best offer and then I can just sit and fish for some good offers. The only reason that I don't want to put them on this auction is I'm not sure how it works and I am more comfortable with ebay even though they charge you an arm and a leg after a sale. Do the auctions here get a lot of bidders/would I get a good price?

Well I've already gotten a few responses (that was fast!). So I think the easiest way to keep track of this would be to just list the machines here with the current high bid. I know this is kinda circumventing their auction site, but if I match the machines successfully I'll make a donation to pachitalk to make up for it. The list is shown below and I will update it when anyone puts in a bid:

    Star Wars Vader: 500
    Star Trek: 500
    Evangelion 4: 500
    Evangelion 5: 600

Bids to reserve aren't binding since I don't have the machines yet and can't guarantee when or in what shape the machines will arrive and I will post final pictures after everything arrives. If you want to bid either post here or send me a message with which machine, the price you are willing to pay and whether you want to bid anonymously.

You wouldn't mind telling us how you can ship an entire machine by slow boat, would you?

What shipping system are you using?

the machines are being packed together and being shipped as one. I am working out the details with the a company in Japan, but they are waiting for the last machine to get in and then we will work out the specifics- hopefully by Monday or Tuesday.

Cool, will be interested in knowing how it turns out. Maybe when I'm solvent again I'll be interested in a few things, particularly those cigarette vending machines that take pachinko balls

Agreed - if it's not protected info, let us know how you got it all together after it happens?

No doubt a few of us would love to do a similar thing, given the right circumstances...

Well it's a mix of knowing a few people, buying a larger number of machines and doing a lot of the grunt work myself. I'll keep you all posted on how it's going.

If I am able to get them through customs without any problems I will be willing to take requests, but that probably won't be for another month or two.

This might be better as a PM, but seeing as you are in Mendham, maybe next time you think of doing this some of us in the area could join in and increase the shipment size - if that is feasible. There are several members active recently in the Metro NY, CT, NJ and Philly area.

    Just a thought...

Ok, just got word back from japan with pictures. Sadly everything is in boxes and I will have to wait for it all to arrive to inspect the machines. They should hopefully be shipped within the next day or two using JTB cargo.

I just got an update from Japan after having to wait till after the New year to get a response (apparently Japanese New Year is stretched out a bit longer than in the US). The expected arrival date is slated for February 2nd and I've decided to go through a customs broker to make sure everything clears without a problem; but sadly this is going to make everything slightly more expensive. I'm still not sure If I'm going to try my luck with the Eva machines on Ebay seeing as how they can't be found easily anywhere in the US and I may need to get as much as I can for them to make up for the broker and insurance costs. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope it's smooth sailing from here!
