Pachinko in the Movies: Kamikaze Girls
I saw this movie on the TV guide and wasn't sure if I'd like it, but it was in Japanese with English subs and I thought it would be good language practise, so I set my PVR to record it, and was very pleasantly surprised.
The movie is Shimotsuma Monogatari AKA Kamikaze Girls, and is about two 17 year old girls of very different backgrounds (one is a Rococo Lolita who is obsessed with very girly 18th century fashions, the other is a tough member of a motorcyle gang) who form a friendship. The film is a bit of a surreal quirky comedy and was a pretty good match for my sense of humour.
The opening scene showed Momoko coming off her scooter and a bunch of pachinko balls falling from her pocket, and sure enough later on there were a few scenes set in a pachinko parlour.

There's also another short scene later on where Momoko goes into the parlour on her own. I couldn't find it on a quick scan of the YouTube clips, but if anyone wants to watch the rest of the movie...
