Peace, Love and Pachi? Sounds goood to me!

Funny thing is, I've owned about 4-5 of those vw buses. They took me to over 300 Grateful dead concerts as well! I even drove one until it had well over 250,000 miles then someone stole it. I guess they really like the huge magic mushroom I painted on the side.

Here's the link to the completed Godzilla auction:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW

I sent him an email a couple of days ago asking about shipping costs. He wouldn't quote a firm figure. He just said that he'd noticed that others on eBay seemed to get them shipped for $50 to $60.

After he explained how well packed it would be (he was going to build a wooden crate) I got concerned about the total weight and guessed it would really cost about $100 or even more to ship. So I asked him if he was willing to lock in a shipping cost. He wasn't. His reply was that he didn't feel he had to, since he'd done his research and found that on eBay pachislos were really popular and sold for $390 to $650 plus shipping.

I wished him good luck and pointed out that there is probably someone out there that just has to have a Godzilla, so while it will probably sell, I really doubted that a private seller with zero feedback could get $390 for a machine that old.

It went for his $195 minimum opening bid, with only 1 bid placed. He ended up losing money, since he claims to have paid $275 for it at a garage sale.

BTW, anyone know of a Godzilla (pachislo, not pachinko) available for a good price?

I asked for a pic and he said he couldn't figure it out.....

The person who started this thread is the one who bid on it.

I hope it all turns out okay.

Strange. He sent me several pictures of it. Looked to be in good condition.

Glad someone here got it. Love to hear what the shipping cost ended up being.

I wanted it just because it seemed very fitting to have a "Godzilla" Japanese slot machine. I probably would have picked up a Gamera to put next to it. But, since I would have been buying it almost exclusively for the theme, and not for the play, I wasn't willing to spend very much.

Well, I just got back from picking up this Godzilla machine. He was only 2 hours away and I figured I could use a nice Sunday ride to southern Florida. I must say that it is a really nice and clean machine. Everything seems to work on it so far. The only problem that I have seen, is that it has a 3amp transformer in it. I want to swap that out, but besides that, I'm happy with what I paid for it. Sure, it was a bit more than what I would have like to have paid, but you're right gwarzin, it DOES look great next to my gamera 2!

The light show on it is great, as well as the Godzilla theme music. It also brought a smile to my face when I hit a bonus and these little monsters popped up on each reel to show a hit. Quite entertaining. I'll upload some pics if you guys are interested in seeing them.

The seller was a really nice guy and as was stated earlier, he's just a real novice when it comes to ebay. This was his first auction. I sat down and talked with him for a couple hours and explained ebay and what people expect from auctions. (including a fixed shipping price and a good description, as well as the number of tokens he is including etc.) It was also fun to see the look on his face as I tried to explain "auction snipers" to him.

He has two other machines that I am going to help him put up on ebay in the near future.

One is a "black jack" that looks like it was a made from a babel machine. The belly glass has been changed to say black jack and the spinner on the top has a card theme inlay. When I took a good look at it, I could see the babel transparencies through the blackjack overlay when the spinner lit up. It was also already modded to take quarters, was very clean and everything on it seemed to work fine.

The second one he has, is an Elvis pachislo that looked to me to be an original, but I'm not 100% sure. I have some pictures of that one as well if anyone can verify it before he puts it up for auction.

All in all, it was a good day. I got a cool new machine at a decent price, I met a nice person who was into the hobby and I got a chance to give him some advice about selling on the Internet. I got. I gave. All is good.

And, your shipping cost was ZERO! Don't get better than that!

Good deal! I am glad it all worked out. I think your price is fine considering they don't seem to come around too often and you didn't have to pay shipping.
