so i'm translating the japanese from my Devil May Cry 3 machine
for anyone that has one, there are 2 switches in the power box

    自 動 精 算 automatic fine calculation
    &
    打 止 suspension stroke

and GREAT I know what they say... what is a suspension stroke? and what is automatic fine calculation?

oh yes, and 無 means off
    while 有 means on
if anyone didn't know that already...

A question(s) on your Devil May Cry game: I just got mine, but the center payout doesnt seem to be working? It pays out everyway, but across the center? Is it some kind of strange setting or mode the game is in?

i'm still trying to figure mine out, had it 10 days and some how i managed to change the background video and the sound... you'd think with an IT degree i could run a slot machine but wow... if you do mean it doesn't ever pay straight across the center mine literally has twice that i've seen, it's always the 15 credits in a downward sloping diag, and free spins in the opposite. or at least 85% of the time. and 777 is typically across the bottom... i've got a fair handle on it so far

    Welcome to PachiTalk!

and welcome to Google doing a lousy job of getting real meanings out of Japanese words..

OK, I don't have any pachi-slos and I have never seen these machines or power transformers, so I'm guessing on the actual translation for you, BUT, I can tell you what the kanji means.

自動精算 (じどうせいさん, or 'jidouseisan')is also sometimes listed as 'クレオフ' ('credit off'). This is related to the term below as far as 'end of jackpots' and is pachi-slo specific I believe. Its meaning seems to be 'no more credits given' when used, or at the end of a jackpot. Hmm - maybe play with this one with the above in mind and see what you can find? I've a feeling its a 'reset' button of sorts too, but not sure how its different to the one below?

打止 (more usually 打止め, うちどめ, or 'u-do' or 'uchi-dome') refers in pachinko to the "hitting stop", or the machine has dispensed its set limit of balls (maybe 3-4000) and can be played no more. At this point, a parlour attendant normally comes over and resets the machine for the next player to use. Sometimes they 'rest' them in-between, and the kugi-shi (the nail doctor) might even appear (rarely) and adjust the nails before any more play occurs. I believe in pach-slo play, the machine will display 'OFF' somewhere after a big bonus is paid out, and play will stop from this point. Again, the parlour attendant would normally need to reset the machine at this point. So perhaps, this is the 'RESET' switch?

Hope this helps somewhat - please let us know what you find?

OMG I was out in the shop and I totally just burned myself with my welder when i got a message that someone could read kanji! honestly if you wouldn't mind too much if I send you the segments, could you tell me what they're trying to say, i ran them through 5 different translators... for example... it's a reset button, but why are there 3 other characters other than reset? リ乜ツ卜
and all this to say 'set' 設 定 ?
    ______________________________________________________
let me expand that post a little more. my ultimate goal is to find out if i can connect a computer to the board and re-flash the system to display messages in english. there are connection ports, but since they are labeled in kanji i don't know if they say something like 'com1' or what... i know quite a few programming languages and would be very interested in retrieving the software from one of these things to see what it's based in... but for now i want to know what all my buttons say :-p

The very BEST way to do this would be for you to post clear camera-phone (if that's all you've got) photos of the actual text you're referring to. There are 3 reasons for this:

    1. Its perfectly clear to me, and others, that the katakana/hiragana/kanji you refer to is EXACTLY what you say it is, and so accurate translations can occur.

    2. Where on the machine the japanese characters are written can often influence what the meaning might be.

    3. Everyone can see, and learn, what the tranlslations are and we don't need to go over and over them. This will benefit everyone at PachiTalk and become a good reference point. Plus, you'll get more offers of help than from just me (I think quite a few people sneakily know the language around here)

So if you wouldn't mind, start posting the photos (clear, and large - use the attachment system at the foot of each new post you write) and I'd be glad to help where I can, and others too.

    Aren't those seal labels?

If the unit is worked on/opened, they have to reseal it and put a notation

the two switches are for after a big bonus to set it to pay out all credits (or keep the 50 stored ones) and to need a reset (or let play continue)

how about these 2 labels, one is on the inside center of the door (the yellow circle) and the one on the left is on the back of the token reader, which i assume just says do not tamper with it... but it was in the picture...

You are correct, across the center payout. Ive had 777 and nothing? Like you, the payouts are diag and the bottom line...weird!

I guess I will have to play more and see!

the first picture is the message displayed when the machine is first turned on.
second is the message displayed when you turn the set key while the machine is on.
and third is a picture of the top of a chip that appears to be removable and is located on the inside of the door on the top on the center of the motherboard

for anyone that might be familiar with the devil may cry 3 machine... has anyone else ever switched to this background? because i'd much rather have the one with the pieces of stone flying at him... this one is boring and theres no absurdly loud music to make my ears explode... i have no idea how i switched it... some random combination of keystrokes in set mode i'm sure. i don't have a manual, the laser printer at stealth was down when i was there :-(

I have looked and can't find a manual listed in either our Research Centre or the Downloads section of the Site

But there is a link that shows diagrams to gameplay and bonus modes etc, not sure if any of this is helpful, but here's the link anyway

ok i don't know how i managed to do it... but i changed the background back to original by (without the key in it at all) playing with the difficulty button and the spin lever... i thought i kept track of what i did, but it didn't work twice... i held the blue button down for 10? seconds, released, then held down the spin lever and pressed the blue button 5 times. stuck a coin/token/j.r.r. tolkien (i don't know what you'd like to call them) in and viola back to noisy flying stones... but i couldn't go backwards... i'm still experimenting. i'll update, i assume something along the same procedure would work for any other rodeo machine of the same year to do something of the sort, for anyone else listening out there.
