Default My New Daido Tako! (need to get Bulbs and glass)

    Hey all,

My new Daido TAKO machine arrived the other day.

I was looking for a that was a cross between Vintage and a 'new' Modern. I think this machine hit the spot!

It has a small, multicolored LED screen as well as an awesome activity center (if you will) in the middle with all kinds of moving, spinning, opening/closing contraptions... It will take me years to figure it out.

Other than being dusty, and the normal 'grime' it's in pretty good shape.

I have to get 2 new 16" x 16" panels of glass for the 2 tracks (but those are $4.90 each from Lowe's Hardware). No big deal.

I also need a few of these bulbs:

I don't see any markings on the bulbs... I have been researching a bit and read about others ordering online from UK, etc... However, I was wondering if anyone knew of any local hardware, electronics stores, etc that would have compatible bulbs...

Any thoughts? I would be fine with settling for something compatible, even if it's not the EXACT same bulb.

Also, I found a button on the middle of the back of the machine, and I can't quite figure it out... here:

I have heard that the year of Manufacture from this machine is from early 2000s and late 1990s, but no solid answer. Anyone know?

This is a VERY fun machine,

    Thanks for playing,

    Matt!

I believe Tako (taco) is octopus in Japanese, maybe the guy is a sushi chef?

I believe that button is the reset button. Power off, press and hold button, power on, wait then release.

very nice. I have something similar with the spinning magnetic thing.

This game induces a kind of hypnosis, a strange feeling of happiness. Winning is hardly important. But, time passes. You lose touch with yourself for a while, and merge with a machine and perhaps you forget, what you always wanted to forget.....

    Cool,

I have yet to get anything to stick to the magnet thing - not sure how it works. it will be fun figuring everything out, that's for sure...

    Later,

    Matt!

    Also,

These bulbs fit into a rubber base, and the the wire contacts bend around it before you plug the wires into the base...

    Still looking..

    Matt!

    Hi Matt,

Your machine was first produced by Daido on the 23rd Februray 2001.

Its a hanemono machine, meaning it has wings that should flip out from the side of the central yaku area (where your rotating drum mechanism sits) and capture balls.

To get the 'wings' to open, you need to drop a ball in the pockets at the bottom of the playfield marked '1' or '2'. Then, getting just one ball in as the wings open and onto the rotating drum (called a 'roller' within the game speak) gives a low chance of the V being scored, as the ball will tend to roll across the roller and way from the V pocket. Getting 2 or a (maximum) 3 balls in at one time means the entire roller is covered and the middle ball will almost certainly fall into the V pocket and start your fever mode.

Tako is indeed octopus, and tako-yaki is a popular Japanese dish of octopus dumplings, or balls. It is the balls that you can see the Chef is chasing on your machine board, and tako-yaki-chan is the little smiling octopus character he is chasing around to make, yep, tako-yaki... delicious.

There is a hidden copy of this machine in the Sankyo FEVER 5 Playstation title (JP only) released in 2001. To find it, if you're interested, use these instructions : Google Translate

Here's the front cover of the Playstation title : http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/psx/image/563228.html?box=3313

Enjoy this fascinating (and very Japanese) hanemono machine.
There is always another machine around the corner...

Those bulbs are actually in the front of my frame as well... The larger ones I am looking for are part of the center assembly.

    Thanks again Chewy!
