    Default Function of upper speakers?

I recently aquired my frist Pachislo machine, a 'Savanna Park', and I'm working to install a volume control in it. I see that it has three speakers, one in the coin tray and two up top. The ones up top don't seem to actually do anything, though...if I disconnect the lower speaker, I can hear a very faint, tinny echo of the game sound through the top speakers, but that's it. Should they be playing along with the belly speaker?

(as a side note, I've attached a 15w L-pad to the belly speaker and it gets very hot and is making a burning smell after a long play session. I guess it puts out more than 15 watts and I need a higher-rated L-pad!)

I don't have that machine, but all of the speakers should be putting out sound I think. All of my machines do.

Check to see if someone installed a resistor inline with the speakers to lower the volume. The value may be too high. Also see if they stuffed something in front of the speaker to quiet it.

hi,i had a savanah park and it played very loud so i unplugged the top speakers.the last owner may have done this, there are 2 small red plugs (there should also be 2 white ones) that just plug into either side of the plastic box that runs along the top of the door.make sure these are in place.hope this helps

    Yes they should be
I had the exact same issue with Lion King, and it tuned out to be blown speakers. Just unplug the bottom speaker and move it to the top to check.
My 2002 Aladdin also had one top speaker blown
Hmm could be something in the design of these Sammy machine during 2000-2004. The "Sammy squeal" might take it's toll

Hmm, good point. I'll try with a continuity tester too, that should tell me if the speaker is burned out.

I've noticed that squeal too...slightly annoying, but with the volume turned down it dissapears!

They looked un-tampered-with at first glance, but I'll look more closely...good point! I'd understand if the previous owner did that!
