    Default "Win a Mint" Allwin

As we have been discussing Allwins in another thread, I thought I'd share this one that is listed on ebay uk at the moment

It's the kind I really like, the Win-A-Mint ones, just like the ones I played as a young girl, although the prizes I won were the Fruit variety Polos back then
    ,

allwin win a mint machine , polo mint packet ,railway on eBay (end time 13-Sep-09 10:55:53 BST)

this one looks to be in very good condition and the price is quite reasonable at £425 option to make an offer too

After seeing your other thread I started looking at these machines and the coindrops and I think I need to make one of these from scraps...scratch...OK scraps. I've never seen these before and they are so cool.

Thanks Hanabi for opening my eyes.

I am really interested in the Allwin arcade games. I think they are fascinating!! One day I will find one (or two) for my collection so that I can discover how they work and hopefully restore them to "like new" condition.

It looks like some use balls and some use your coin (Token) Is one way more common? I think I'll figure out the mech of the coin ones and make one that has several slots at the bottom for the coin to colect into and when a row is full it dumps the coins to you (except the one coin that trigered the win) I love the idea of that style of machine.

I actually went to the Old Penny Memories Museum at Bridlington again today, just so I could play on the Allwins again
    (PachiTalk)

They operate on one Old Penny and this then releases a little ball inside the machine, pachinko ball size or maybe a little smaller??

you then 'flick' the lever, trying to judge just how far down / back you need to press it, in order to get the ball in the winning cups, yes skill is involved!! (sometimes I've found them on ebay referred to as flick-a-ball machines)

We played a 'Win-a-Mint' model today, amongst others, and we won a few times, the musuem owner has little wooden rolls made up to be dispatched,
these you then exchange at the desk for little prizes depending on what is written on them,

when you get a ball in a winning cup, you then turn a another little dial / lever and your prize comes out!!

today we won sweets, postcards, souvenir pencils, etc

    Lots of fun

Here's a pic that shows the main points...

1 Old Penny goes in here
    2 ball comes out here
3 ball rests here, ready to flick
    4 Flick this lever
5 If you win, then turn this dial in direction of arrow
    6 Prize is dispensed here

Thease are truley brill machines. Mablethorpe on the east coast has an arcade with lots of them and some old Rock ola machines (like pinball). But if you are thinking of collecting any make sure you get a real one as there are lots of copies out there as are the win a mint on ebay. If you only want one for fun and are not a collector then the ones on ebay are a good value machine.
Allwins also made a win a fag machine ( No. In the U.K. it means a Cigarette) the good old days of underage smoking and entertainment all in one.
One of the most collectable of the Allwins machines is the Square Four, which is four machines in one.
I think its about time i got my son to show me how to post pictures up

There is an Allwin Four Square machine for sale in an antique shop here in Colorado. It is not in the best condition, and they want $1,000 USD for it, which I thought was outrageosly high. Maybe it's a reasonable price after all.

Sharmoni - maybe we need to make the trip and check out that Four Square machine after all!

    That one looks totaly do-able!!

I can make the cabnet and the face of the machine. I just have to figure out how to drop about 3 or 4 coins for each win.

Maybe let it drop the whole row of coins if you get into that target.

Any ideas for the mechanics of it or pictures of the real mechanics on a machine.
