    Default New Slot Machine Owner

I just bought an old slot machine at a garage sale. It is a Tagasako make. It seems to have only a couple of issues.
The micro switch that appears to count the coins is not operating (looks like some linkage might be missing)
It flashes TILT alot and, occasionally, the third real does not stop and lock after a spin.

    Anyone have any advice?

I am new to these forums. Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks

micro switch counting coins in or out? can you post some close up pictures? as far as the third reel not stopping sounds like a sticky button or dirty optics.

Thanks for the reply. It is the counter for coins coming out. I am trying to get a photo right now. Did you know any reason why the "TILT" alarm would go off?

So when a coin is dispensed, does the 'to coin' lever move up (as seen in your pic)? It looks like the switch lever is bent, not sure if it's supposed to be above or below the other lever. I'd flatten it out and try it both ways (switch lever on top of coin lever first).

Is the Tilt an alarm and lights, or just lights? Could be part of the game. Post of pic of the game itself.

The Tilt is a flashing light and audible alarm. I will try the switch as you suggested. The coin arm goes down when the quarter goes by, but the switch is not tripped because the arm does not hit it at all.

    Pic of machine attached.

Now I understand the 'Tilt' thing, I thought it was a pachislo I'm kinda lost when it comes to the American ones.

Maybe a mod will move this to the Slot Machines | English Fruit Machines | Rotamints section.

We've got a couple very knowledgeable people here, so if I'm wrong, hopefully the right people will chime in .

As that switch is in the picture, does it 'click' when the lever is raised, or pushed down?

It looks like under the other lever is too much. I still think the switch lever is bent a little too much. The coin lever is in it's neutral position in the pic, and the switch has to be pushed down to activate right? Does the coin lever move very much when a coin activates it?

I'd try bending the switch lever where it bends up so that the other end just touches the coin lever. I'm wondering if a spring is missing. Perhaps a light rubber band around the switch lever so it contacts the coin lever, then when the coin lever moves down, so does the switch.

Your sure the switch doesn't also do something if you pull up on it? Cause I can imagine it getting bent if that coin lever slaps into it a few thousand time.

Another shot of that mechanism from a different angle might help.

Those old school hoppers are pretty basic. Only things I ever seen go wrong. 1. arm needs to be bent and/or adjusted to make contac with the switch. 2. micro switch needs to be replaced. 3. in a busy enviorment they need to be cleaned every 3-6 month otherwise the coin dust and gunk builds up and causes coins to stick and jam.
Back in the day, that arm would become bent because slot attendents, not knowing what they are doing, blindly jam long screwdrivers in the hopper trying to free up coin jams. slot attendents caused 90% of the problems I had to fix in the days before optics and printers.

Do you have any idea why the third wheel would not lock into position occasionally?

    Thanks

maybe poor contact on the third button, try switching the wiring to another button and see if the problem follows it.

if you can't do that, contact cleaner should fix your problem, spray it around the 3rd button while pressing it fast

Look at the pic Lucky, it's a regular slot machine, not a pachislo.

My best guess (which probably isn't any good considering it's a 'real' slot ) is that the sensor inside the reel isn't registering, could be dirty/bad/loose connection.

What did you do to fix the hopper? and does it still tilt?

i agree 100%! reel optic board or loose connection. and a long shot that the stepper could be going bad but i doubt that.

bent the arm under the arm coming from the quarter hopper. Works Great, and the TILT only happens when the 3rd wheel does not stop or snap to a stop.

I bought some contact cleaner to try and resolve that.
