Default Recieved my first Pachinko machine and loving it.

I received my first Pachinko machine today. I bought the Western theme and I'm having a blast. I fevered the thing in the first 10 minutes. Needless to say I had to keep moving the balls back and forth(400). I am going to invest some money in a ball retrieval system and 5000 balls. Yes I have to say that you guys turned me into a Pachinko nut.

Tell me something...are Pachislo machines just as fun? Right now my gameroom is coming along very nice and I'll post pictures as the stuff comes in.

I love that mame cabinet you built! Awesome! Yeah a few more pachinko's and a few pachislo's and you'll be set. I only have 8 pachislo's in the game room and keep the pachinko's in my office. The wife thinks the pachinko's make too much noise so I have to hide them.

Industen, did you build the MAME cabinet or did you buy it? It really looks nice.

I'm downloading V.90 right now in bittorrent.

MAME = Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator

    http://www.mame.net/

    The emulator is free.

If you want the best way to get the roms and not waste hours upon hours of time downloading incorrect unchecked versions...do as a friend of mine and many before have done and use this site :

    http://allmyroms.com/

8 DVDs yes 8 DVDs of roms all checked and verified for all changes plus all the sound files, screen caps etc you need. I can't believe this guy offers all this at his cost of 29.50 delivered. As I stated a friend of mine just got this set in and it's incredible. All DVD's are all professionally produced with full color labels etc.

Gawd this sounds like an advertisement ! But as they say here in cacti country : It ain't no advertisement just plain ol good advice..

Back to your original post, I think it is nice to have at least one of each machine.

The pachinko IS far louder, but is a totally different game play. It's like having a pool table and a ping pong table. 2 totally different things.

Get yourself a Pachislo next and then go from there on which you would rather build larger in your collection.... 8-)

In a nutshell MAME is a pc software emulator that lets you play virtually all the original arcade games from Space Invaders through Pac Man up through Area 51 and even more recent games. Includes lots of vertical and horizontal scrolling shooters that didn't make it to the U.S. and tons of Japanese titles.

Some people build cabinets with multiple joysticks, trackball (for Missle Command etc.), spinner knobs, buttons on top, buttons on side (for Pinmame pinball tables - some -very-realistic), so that they can have the arcade experience. But you can just play from your pc with keyboard, mouse, game controller pad, or one of the true arcade joystick controllers that are available. Or you can buy cabinets ready to go with space for a computer.

The games are all made from the original chip set rom dumps out of the original arcade machines, so you actually play the original game, not a clone. They look, sound, and feel exactly like they did when they came out, since they are, especially with one of the arcade controllers you can buy. (www.xgaming.com is one)

Go to the link mentioned(mameworld) and work out from there. Getting the software up and running is easy, the number of games available is insane. But 40% of the titles are other country duplicates of original games, rip-offs, and another 30% aren't any good. Leaves around 1000 or so fun arcade games to try out. For free if you download them.

If one has a pachinko/pachislo/pinball/pool table game room, a MAME set-up of any kind is a must to complete the room. No need to look at those expensive original/new arcade machines.

Thanks for the followup information, John.

I can see how one of these setups could really spoil an arcade gamer.

I had no idea the games were so available.

VisualPinball is also a great program. You can have all the pinball games running off you computer. The ball physics are really good too. Build a pinball table for it hook it up vertically to a plasma TV, add motion sensors on both sides for tilt and you have a universal pinball machine.

Actually someone overseas has done that already. It is very cost prohibitive tho. I would love to have a set up like that. Have you seen that somewhere?
Visual Pinball and Pinmame tag along with the rom required pinballs. But you can run Visual Pinball alone for jut the user created non rom pinballs. Great Stuff :!: :!:

It wouldn't be hard to build that's for sure. You basically only need a computer, wood, a 42 inch Plasma or thin type TV, and an IPAC or keyboard encoder. Cost would put you up there.

Setting the side buttons to the encoder is simple. The spring type release in the front could be rigged to depress the ball trigger on release. The motion sensors would be underneath set to a violent response so little movement would not tilt the screen/field.

Or you can buy your own premade

Actually I see from the link :

    http://www.pinballnews.com/news/virtual.html

    It is made in Austria.

I believe after investigating this a few months ago I did find a distributor here in the US for it but it was to much for my little ol' budget !
