Default New Guy Here - Wiring and Restoring a Vintage Pachinko

Hello, I just joined today. I recently purchased a Sanyo Comet II for my wife. I will begin to start researching on how to properly restore it. The first thing I need to is learn how to wire it for power. I know absolutely nothing about these machines and jumped into my purchase blindly. I look forward to learning how to get our new machine in working order.

    Welcome!

You'll find a ton of info about restoring your machine here! Keep searching through the threads as several members are currently restoring vintage machines.

In regards to the power, on a vintage it is not needed for function. However, if you wish to have lights, hooking up the wiring to a 9 volt battery will suffice!!

We hope to see more pictures of your project!

Oh no, when I was testing the plunger, a ball went into the center and nothing at all happened (no noise or ball discharge). There must be more problems than I thought. Thanks for the input.

I'm one of those people restoring a machine. For starters you need probably about 100 balls for it to function correctly. It took me awile to figure that out and alot of studying of the different paths of the ball and what does what. Im still not done but sharmoni seems to have some knowledge on the mechanical aspects of the game. A challenge of the brain is good for you.

Thank you for the advice but I am not quite sure what you mean. Do 100 balls need to be run through the machine?

    Thank you again

My guess would be at least 100 balls in the hopper. On modern machines we suggest at 1000 to 1500 balls for the hopper.

Your pachinko machine is mechanical and will run with just gravity, so power is only needed for the lights that come on when you get a jackpot or when the top ball hopper needs to be refilled. You can wire the lights up to a 9v battery and attach the battery with a connector and a U-clip—both available at Radio Shack.

Otherwise, once you have a hopper full of balls you should be able to just load the front top tray with balls and fire away. If you have having blocks take a look at this post for some suggestions of where levers may need to be adjusted (1940s pachinko machine help - PachiTalk). If you need more help getting it to work then post some photos of the back and describe the problems.

It looks like a very nice vintage, in good condition. Do not clean it with water or use oil on it. Search the forum for more details on proper cleaning methods. Congratulations and welcome to PachiTalk!

Heres an old post describing the installation of a jackpot light but it can be used for basically any light that you may wish to install.
