    Default My new vintage Sankyo

Hello, finally got my pachinko machine I won on ebay. I'm really pleased with it, unfortunately the glass was smashed in transit but I half expected that to happen and everything else seems in good condition. Once its had a clean should look really nice.

Having never seen a pachinko machine in real life I was surprissed by the size, much bigger than I expected - and I just love the sound the balls make on the pins. It's also facinating studying how everything works in the back, clever stuff. I can't wait to replace the glass so I can have a proper play.

I checked the date and I believe it was produced in 1973, a little older than the seller advertised but that's fine. The theme seems a little mixed featuring fish and seaweed in the central area, a playing card and water design on the large weighted top spinner and a background that looks a bit like grapes or berries.

    Thanks everyone,
@hanabi: Bandit, my pet Kakariki thinks it's great. He sits waiting for the balls to fall out so he can attack them .

I've been busy cleaning it today, I removed the plastic covers and a few bits at the back to give it a fairly good clean, not as thorough as some I've seen on here but it still looks much nicer than it did. Just been cleaning the chrome and made a start on the playfield. The chrome came up really well, still a tiny bit of rust here ane there but very minor. The playfield looks like it will come up a treat but is gonna take some time - windolene and cotton buds is quite slow going.

I need to have a look at the wiring as well, the 'no balls' light stays on regardless of whether the switch is pressed or not and there are some dodgy wires. The bulbs also feel very very hot so I may just change the whole system to LED.

Your pins look pretty shiny already...the machines I've been working on have pins that are having to be shined one-by-one. It is a time-consuming process that is easily the worst part of refurbishing these machines as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah the pins asre in really good condition, only a couple which have lost their shine which is good. The playfield itself though was quite grubby, you can't really tell from the photos but it was quite black in places and took quite a while to get clean but now it's gleaming and white. Must admit I think I was very lucky to get a machine in such good condition.

I'm all up and running now, I got piece of polycarbonate a few days ago to replace the glass that was smashed and have been playing quite a bit since. I could defnately do with more balls but it's not too bad, certainly playable and lots of fun (Dave you're a life saver). I'm planning on having it displayed in a prominent place so that it gets maximum use as its the sort of thing you can have a quick go on as you walk past and it would be a shame if it was shoved in a corner somewhere.
