New Years Purchases

So 2005 has arrived, a new crop of machines will begin to hit our shores and this may or may not drive down the price of the older models. A Spin Luck for example is not going to drop in value, it may even increase. There are dozens if not hundreds that stand a very good chance of dropping in price. As the new machines arrive, it might become bargin time for one you've had your eye on awhile.

So what are your purchase plans for the upcoming year? Either new models you think might arrive or vintage ones that might become a steal?

I personally am going to get a LOTR's pachinko, A Metal Slug pachislo, a star wars pachinko, although I really don't think we'll see this model this year. Other than that, nothing has really struck my fancy yet.

Some of you guys/gals will find a great one that no one was really expecting to be great and I'll probably get whichever one that is too, the 2005 sleeper machine.

Any bets this year on what the 2005 sleeper machine might be?

Don't have any idea on sleepers, but am hoping to get some of the old favorites before this year is over without overpaying -- maybe catchin' a deal. Giga Fever, Babel, Spin Luck (even if have to pay a bit more) and maybe even Betty Boop are at the top of my 2005 wish list. :smt117

Right now I've noticed theres a plethora of pachislo machines up for sale, but a paltry number of pachinkos.

Pachislo wise... if the High Grade Gamera starts showing up, I'd like to have one of those. I really like these full screen LCDs.

Pachinko... hmmmm.
When the price gets reasonable enough... yes, the LOTR. But if they are going in Japan's secondary RETAIL market for around $100 US, we are getting shafted right now. I'm not that big of a fan of the movie to go for that one yet. Neither are the Japanese, but someone is eating them up.
Popeye... that looks cool, a nice commemorative... but again... the price will need to drop pretty well on that one for me to bite.
Twin Tales... cute machine, but here's another that we're getting shafted on by TA. They won't sell one now direct for less than $380, and even then they told me it was a "great deal"... but back in November you could get all of them you wanted from TA for $199 Buy It Now. That's BS. (<--- opinion)

Just like we saw in the pre-Christmas season... dealers will charge what they can get... and keep jacking up the price to find the limit. That's business... I understand that. But I can wait... no machine is rare. NONE!

Oh... I'm sure there will be others, too. But I'll need to make some room.

From what we saw on the Papa's site in Japan, the old Terminator is crashing in price... they had the thing for around $60 US without tokens. They will be dumped over here soon, I think. As long as the crazy rumors about the Governator having them destroyed at ports don't start up again, that could be another choice for me.

It has reels... just like Sapp, Hyakkei, and Monkey. But it's a 20" LCD.

Cant go wrong witha good old fever queen, havent seen many of these lately! Dont forget about Race Queens either. Even if your not a race fan, its asuper cool machine. Im thinking the Giga Fever might just catch on as a sleeper since the buzz aroudn here has it going up! Id still like an addams family but there never seems to be many on ebay, and when they are they are too high for my taste!

There's no logic or consistency in day-to-day pricing of this stuff. You (take that, I) need to know the market and be patient enough to wait for the slow day/week/month.
