    Default Continental XXXX acting weird

Or maybe it's not and the way it's designed? :smt102 My Cont XXXX will continue taking coins after taking 50 credits but gives nothing for them. They just drop down inside and aren't ejected into the tray. It does the same thing if the credit function isn't enabled and more than the 3 coins are put in. It doesn't discharge them out the front as the DDK machine does.

Is something wrong with the Cont XXXX or is this normal? :-?

Somethings wrong. There should be a solenoid that gets activated to divert the tokens.

Yep, I was afraid of that, Gary. I pulled the coin mechanism and looked it over pretty carefully. The connectors are all solid to the electronics on it. Everything looks to be fine...

Does it take quarters? Ive seen machines set up to take quarters this way! Its basically a cheap way to make it wokr. The coins cannot fall out int the tray becasue the hole is blocked that allows them to fall. Its blocked so all quarteres will go int othe machine! Its basically a poor mans conversion. Might be the problem!

So, whaddaya think? Is this problem going to be a simple coin return exchange or is it going to be in a microchip somewhere where no one no knows how to repair the darn problem. Certainly don't want to send the machine back for this.

Oh well, will call tech support tomorrow at Eric's GrandView Products and see what they have to say.

Maybe they are just possesed by an ancient Japanese Demon  with a taste for metal. The more you feed it the happier it will be and when it's happy it will cause the machine to go into extra bonus rounds.

I been thinking of your problem, and you might have tried all I will say here.

This is what I would try:

    A full Major Reset
Than when back on leave door open and drop coin in watching what goes on on the inside, It should free flow throw the system and give your machine a line of play, sec. one and than the third one. now the machine is in loaded play mode. drop in 4th coin and watch to see if it does the same thing. does it give you a credit ? if it falls thru and does not credit or fall infront.

Than look at the button to see if the thing is sticking in and causing this problem. I dup your problem on a twist machine and a topcat by tooth picking the button in.

So this might be your problem a sticky button use a contact spray to clean it only.

I hope if you have not trid this it works for you.

Arby made me do it and I am so pleased! ItÂ’s especially fun when you figure these things out yourself!

After I’d pretty much given up the problem as to the coins not being dropped to the front tray after the 50 credits or after 3 coins were inserted while not in “credit” mode, Arby suggested checking a few more things and caused me to go look at this thing more closely.

After experimenting with coins dropping through with the power on the machine, I pulled the mechanism out, and really gave it a close look. Finally figured out that what needs to occur. Take a look at my picture below.

The brass-colored arm is pulled down by a magnet when power is applied, pushes on a lever which is the top of the coin track and then holds the tokens firmly in place as they roll down the trough. After receiving 3 tokens (with the “credit” function off) the magnet is released. What should then have happened is that the silver lever (which is the top of the coin track if you flip the mechanism over) behind the brass arm in the picture should be pulled back making the top of the coin track loose and causing the coins to drop out.

There is a spring clip on that silver lever (coin track top) which had somehow slipped off the “L” hook for it and was wrapped around the red wire below it. At first, I thought the spring was where it belonged, but after realizing there wasn’t enough tension to pull the silver lever back, I took a toothpick and gently pulled it back up onto the L hook. (The spring now in its proper place is easily visible in the pic.) Viola! It all works now!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!! :smt026 BTW, if these older eyes could see everything as clearly as this closeup pic shows things, it woud have been a LOT easier. :-P
