Default Turn Knob & Shooter problem

I just got a parts machine off ebay. Lots of things wrong...

Got mostly everything figured out so far but the main thing that's wrong is the shooter/turn knob.

I took everything apart and even bent some prongs in the knob itself on accident and the shooter was still not working... I found out that it needed a dongle. Took one off my Lupin and it worked immediately. However, I think I messed something up and I need a fix.

When I touch the knob ring it starts shooting full force. I don't even need to turn it to start shooting and when I do turn it it doesn't adjust the pressure. The red button on the knob does work for the single shooting but I'm confused why it is shooting full force by me even just touching it.

Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong and does anyone have a spare dongle?

    Thanks.

Edit: Just noticed I posted in the pachislo section. Thanks in advance mods

    Still looking for some help.

If anyone have a spare knob assembly that would be great too.

Sounds like there is a short inside the knob. Perhaps when you put it back together you crossed something.

Does it matter where the green wires are touching the screws? (On the inside panel)

If I reattach them in a different order will it make a difference?

Hope this helps out. I took some pics of my Gamera...it has the same lower case and knob. The three wires coming from the center are all secured with the same screw...there is a fourth wire from the center of the back panel that stops short and gets screwed to a black elbow piece that is on the right of the silver cover plate. Again, I hope this helps you out. That is as far as I dared to take the handle apart...I do not know what is inside the handle.

    That helps alot!

    Thanks!

I took everything apart and found 1Y coin in the knob... Thats probably what caused the problem...

Anyways, I put everything back and its still doing the same thing. Nothing looked out of the ordinary in the knob.

    Anyone else have a suggestion?

Why is everyone finding coins in their shooter knobs but me? I've taken about 20-30 apart so far and haven't found anything but dust!

So it's a wired (variable resistor) knob and not a mechanical (rod) knob? If you have it apart some time again, check the value on that component as it's turned and see if it varies. It may have been turned too far when it was put back together (not sure if this is possible on that model or not). Another way to try it out is to take the knob apart, plug the wires in where they go and try shooting while turning the variable part by hand.

Thanks compirate. I didn't see a manual way to turn the variable while everything was taken apart.

I'm thinking its not the knob or anything on the bottom door. Maybe its something in the back?

I also emailed slot-pachinko asking if they had an extra knob assembly for sale. No reply yet. I would like to try someone else's knob on my machine.

Wha ??? Amazing !!! those pesky coins ><

I wish I could help here, but maybe the motor has an issue

PS - there is sometimes a circuit board inside the knob.

Have you done any additional investigation? You need to be brave to disassemble (no disassemble #5) the entire knob, but you may need to in order to discover the source of the problem.

It really could be any of a number of things

We can help, if you get in there, take some snaps, but ONLY do what you are comfortable with. We have had a member electrocute himself, three bicycles, two guitars, and a carny while playing with the electronics

(a moment of silence please ... for the carny)

    Thanks for the reply.

I have taken apart the entire knob down wire by wire.

Everything looks to be in place. I could have damaged something when I took the knob off and bent a prong but it went back into place so I'm doubting its that.

I'll take it apart and get lots of pictures. Thanks again.

Don't mean to bump an old thread but I've been working on getting the problem fixed and I still cant find the answer.

Just wondering if anyone has any new suggestions or if any newcomers had any suggestions. I'd really like to see this machine working. Thanks.

Here are some various pictures I took a while ago. If anything seems out of the ordinary let me know. (I do have a dongle in there that I took out of Lupin)

Well, after 4+ years and I still can't seem to resolve this issue. I was hoping that you folks might have a little more insight as to how to resolve this very frustrating issue.

When I touch my hand to the knob, the hammer strikes the ball at full speed, no matter if I'm turning it at all. I haven't touched anything since the above pictures have been posted.

As this was a parts machine, I understand anything could be wrong. I'm still hopeful that the synergy within this abyss of information can bring this machine back to life!

Anyone here have a clue how to resolve my issue?

I'll have a look at my Heiwa later on. But it is in the newer machine. On these it's not like the sankyo where the hammer is attached to a spring assembly. If I remember right. Isn't there a variable resister on the shooter circuit board. That adjust the sensitivity.

I've been rummaging through my old pictures looking for the ones I took of the shooter knob when I had it disassembled last but I can't find them. I'm trying to delay taking the knob off; I'm not sure if there is a variable resister on the shooter circuit board.. I plan on checking soon though.

I found the thread below and it very closely resembles the back of my machine. I was curious if someone could take a look at the second picture in the post and tell me what the yellow paint covered turn knob is for. It's hiding behind the horizontal wires in the center of the image. When I give it incremental turns, it doesn't seem to have any effect on the shooter knob.. the knob just starts hammering the balls at full force regardless if I'm turning it at all.

Questions on Sammy Popeye shooter module

    Frustrating!

Also, what is the other knob appearing in the first picture, also covered in yellow paint?

Thats either the force or sensitivity adjustments. Try turning it 1/2 turn one way, then the other, or bigger turns and see if it makes a difference. Like a varible resistor. But with a lot more turns on it.
As for the pictures. Its the same board. Just with the transformer taken off.
