    Default strange 3 position switch

    found a very small 3 position micro switch on the front edge of the top circuit board on the front door of the machine.the board appears to control the 20" DISPLY.it is marked with two seperate japanese symbols. anyone got any ideas...

    just tried it and it made no diferance to the volume control,it is fitted with an after market resister(variable) for changing the volume.you know the type wired into the speakers.

    (1)take the pictures(duh)
    (2)Load them into photobucket (or another photo sharing site of your choice)
    (3)get the link it gives you for forums
    (4)post that link!

    i think this should work,the switch is in the middle ,red,and is clearly on the outside of the plastic casing so is accessable for use,but what?

    It's a volume control. The 2 symbols are "high" and "low" (not directly translated). That board is also the audio board - the speakers should plug into it as well. It's hard to tell the difference between loud, very loud, and excruciating.

    You should set it to the lowest position, especially with volume pots installed.

    If you follow the traces from the switch, they should pass under an EEPROM (M27C801) and shoot off to the right and up to an audio chip (H8/3006).
