Default Bidding low does not work... or a new Single Shot Daiichi

Unless you want to rescue another pachinko and take it home.

There I was just minding my business, I set my sniper to a low bid, then a week or so later I get this e-mail Congratulation you won...
Oh no I think what did I bid on this time...
Well I guess since no one wanted to pick it up in Long Beach I got to rescue this nice Single Shot Daiichi

    400000231165
Some rust on the front door frame, a small chunk of wood missing from the front, a little bit of cell cracking around some of the nails, more light rust on the metal parts in back, but it appears everything is there so a little cleaning and polishing and its ready to play at 8 balls a minute. The Ashtray falls past it's stop.

    Not bad for $31.00

JWegger I got the other one for $19.99, I wasn't too sure that the single shot was complete.
The other one is a Nishijin with a ski run in the middle ebay number 290244603692. I've gone down another level down to the darkside and hope I haven't bit off more than I can chew this time.

A ski slope paired with Jack-o-lanterns... interesting! I love the white swirls on it and can't wait to see a spiffy picture of it also! Good luck!

Ya, The chrome rust and the pumplin stickers I'm hoping are the biggest challenge. I hope it plays OK after it is cleaned up and some feet nailed on it.

Here it is all done, there were no big suprises except for the earth quake the second I opened it up for the first time. The silicone like plastic on the bottom of the face is a bit clouded but in perfect condition and no cracks or broken tabs on the clear plastic inside the lower door by the shooter where the balls pass through only gunked up.

My guess is it is a early 70's Nishijin Sophia Super DX with a Ski slope in the middle. It has a red Pachinko Palace Imports sticker on the left and a sticker on the right with 239-2 on it.

The frame was very rusty but cleaned up nicely. The outer frame came out perfect but the inner frame is pitted but shiny and smooth. The corners are still a bit rusty and there was no outer glass. It almost looks almost frosted. It at least impressed my wife who was a bit bemused when I brought it in.

I still need to do a few small things, there is still a bit of residue from the chrome polish and a few missed black spots on the base of a few pins. There are couple that could use some strightening. I need to lube up the empty hopper linkage as the light comes on and the little arm that shows up in the clear area next to the shooter does not come down fully now that the lights work.

I fixed the broken wire, hooked up a nine volt battery and thought it would not work then it started to flicker on payout in the orange area on the right side. I opened a cover and cleaned the switch with contact cleaner and tightened the bulbs and it works great. Now that I cleaned all and streightened some the pins it does not jack as much but the play is much more "lively".

Jwegger how good of shape is the single shooter?
I was very lucky on mine.

I don't know if it would damage the face, but, i've used cigarette lighter fluid to soften up stickers and unwanted labels on video games and consoles.

wet with a qtip, let it soak into paper a little and peel it off.

some ligher fluid on a tissue will removed residue.

do this at your own risk

Lighter Fluid is the standard "Fix" for removing masking tape you have left on your windows too long after the Hurricane season has ended.

Will try the lighter fluid. I will be very careful. Other than the stickers the face is very nice. A drop of WD40 on the cam fixed the empty hopper stopper issue. It moves more smoothly and doesn't hang up at halfway anymore. It does not drop fully until another ball is shot, I guess it is because a ball is half way into the door. The door seems to hold about 7 or 8 balls even after emptying the top tray.

Looks like a fine machine. I love the Nishijin type B machines. They have to be one of the easiest to tare down, clean up and rebuild. Based on the design and layout of the back it looks like it was made between 1973-1976. Do you agree with that one compirate or jwegger? The two of you probably have more vintage machines then the rest of us combined.

(Oh no, show tunes! Sung to the song 'For I am the Pirate King' from Pirates of Penzance)

Oh, better far to live and die
Under the brave parlor flag I fly,
    Than play a sanctimonious part,
With a pachi head and a pachi heart.
Away to the cheating world go you,
    Where pachi-people all are well-to-do;
But I’ll be true to the song I sing,
And live and die a Pachi King.

For I am a Pachi King!
And it is, it is a glorious thing
    To be a Pachi King!

For I am a Pachi King!
Chorus. You are! Hurrah for our Pachi King!
And it is, it is a glorious thing
    To be a Pachi King.
Chorus. It is! Hurrah for our Pachi King!
King & Chorus. Hurrah for the Pachi King!

When I sally forth to seek my prey
I help myself in a royal way.
I buy a few more pachis, it’s true,
    Than a well-bred monarch ought to do;
But many a king on a first-class throne,
If he wants to call his crown his own,
Must manage somehow to get through
More dirty work than ever I do,

For I am a Pachi King!
And it is, it is a glorious thing
    To be a Pachi King!

For I am a Pachi King!
    Chorus. You are!
    Hurrah for the Pachi King!
King. And it is, it is a glorious thing
    To be a Pachi King.
    Chorus. It is!
    Hurrah for our Pachi King!
King & Chorus. Hurrah for the Pachi King!
