    Smile Lemon or Lemonade : > )

I just had to get myself something special for my 68th birthday

it may turn out to be a lemon or it may become sweet lemonade

I bought a Cherry master 8 liner complete game cabinet, I found this on Craig's list locallly.

it came with 3 boards, cherry 96 installed plus fruit 99 and Jungle king

the cabinet is in excellent condition, inside is clean, but, as you can see by my pictures the moniter isn't working right

I have an amiga and commodore rgb monitors I may try with it.

total cost was $150.00 and my son and I brought it here in his jeep cherokee,

the 3 boards alone are worth the total price I paid

the cabinet is 22" wide 28" deep and 6 feet tall

does anyone have a clue to my monitor problem???

I need to get at the back to mess with it, so I'm going to have a very cramped bedroom for awhile

if all else fails I can sell the boards and comvert the cabinet to an MVS cartridge arcade system.

first make sure its unplugged, and then make sure all of the chips are seated the correctly
sometimes that can cause the problem you are having ( at least i had a similar problem with one of my arcade games)

Wow...That is clean. Even the boards look great. As for the monitor, It appears to be getting a signal, may be just a loose connection (like we haven't heard that before).

One of the first things a gaming machine will check is the Roms. As 20Sorty02 said, Check the chips and make sure there seated correctly.

Hope all works out ok. Looks like a cool machine. Post a vid of the play.

It looks like a problem with the horizontal hold. There should be some pots in there that will adjust that. Not sure that is your specific problem, but it looks like what I have seen in the past. Are the lines moving from one side to the other, or solid? If they are moving, then it's most likely the horizontal hold. If your are still, then it's something else. Also, check the connections where the game board connects to the system; that can cause similar issues.

if you look at the first picture, the black cylinder has the light and dark adjustment on the left and next to it is for varying color,

the long piece sticking out on the left may do horizontal sync, but it looks like it needs an allen wrench of something to adjust it.

on the second picture you can see the red, yellow, blue, green connector from the monitor to that board. I may put quick connects in the line and run an extra set of wires to try my Amiga RGB monitor. or should I bypass that board to test the other monitor??

looking things over more I found all the rest of the monitor controls behnd the front panel where the buttons are.

    also 3 counters hidden there.

adjusting the controls didn't help ;(

Looks like it will be a nice addition to the collection if you can get it working

Check for a Degous button (De-gow-s) I have no Idea if I spelled that so I helped it out with a little phonetic spelling. It will reset the magnetic field of the monitor. If there is no button, some electronic sights sell degousing rings that can re-align the field.

OK LD it looks like you need to hop into an Old Radioshack and ask for the package of CRT adjustment tools or find them on the internet they are 4 palstic pieces that are universal to all of the old TVS and monitors and have all of the oddly shaped ends to actuate the mechanical adjustors on the unit. I work on these things occasionally at a bingo hall here in Ft lauderdale and the issue you seem to be having MAY be fixable by going to the Video board and finding the POTS there, make sure to get a good component parts cleaner and spray each one individually noting its original position and returning it there before moving on to the next. Spray each in turn and move them back and forth full cycle to dislodge any corrosion or dirt. I had 3 of them with this problem that turned out to be spiders nesting in the chassis and getting in the pots. THESE WILL BE ACCESSABLE WHILE THE UNIT IS ON SO I RECOMEND GROUNDING YOURSELF AND USING EXTREME CAUTION.

Just send the monitor chassis out to be recap. Or buy a cap kit and find someone good at soldering. A new cap refit fixes about 90% of monitor issues and its not expencive. I have had two done for less the $50 each.
