    Default universal

New to forum hope some one can help just got this today was suprised by the weight I would say close to 200 pounds , dont know much about these machines. tried to turn it on lights came on but wheels would not spin . I then moved the connections around some and the wheels started spinning and the hopper made all kind of noise , some time they will stop others they wont . I think this machine was made with the handel on it if you look at the glass it says pull handel . There was no key to open the machine but I was able to open it. There does not seem to be a reset key switch in the machine any help would be great . well here are some pics .

i have a very similar machine called apex there should be a key on the power supply for reset above that is the switch to change the skill level above that will be a switch to empty the hopper(keep it left) the next swt is the power followed by the switch that controls the lighting.
this machine is 1989 and made exclusively for use in Okinawa.
i take it you live in Michigan near lansing? i believe thats where i saw it for sale on craigs list?
clean and reset all the plugs, 9/10 of the time this will fix your problems.

There is no key switch inside the machine . There is a on off switch on the power supply and two fuses that you push in . Then there is a on off switch by the reels with some type of counter in and out .On the hopper is another on off switch and a push button ,I pushed the button it emptys the hopper The machine will play some time, but most of the time I turn it on it maks a loud humming sound. and the reels spin forward and backwards and stop then starts again also when its doing this the hopper is going . what should I use to clean the plugs. I think you mean the connectors thanks for the help

unplug and reseat all your connectors, cleaning all the buttons may help also.

most problems are from poor connections or dirty contacts.

What should I use to clean the connectors , I tried radio shack velocity dust remover . also looking into the machine found a fuse laying on the bottom . it looks like it goes to the board just behind the reels to the right

that may be it, some machines have a dedicated fuse for the Hopper mechanism I have not dug into this machine very far as yet because mine will require a full cabinet replacement, However check the fuse and replace it in its location and get back to us I will check my own as soon as I return home and do a paralell investigation.

if the fuse goes to the board above the switch thats your reel stop board and it might help your reels to stop properly . as for cleaner radio shack has a product sold in a pen that has contact cleaner that reverses oxidation its a tad expensive but it works great open each connector and dab the pen on each connection then reassemble it by the time your done it should have soaked in well .hopefully it will cure any problems the machine has including the sound issues .as for the hopper be careful this looks like an old style 100 volt hopper turn the machine off and remove the hopper look carefully at the hopper youll see a switch mech. in line with the slot where the tokens come out check to see if the switch moves freely and that the mech springs back easily this counts the coins as they pass through the hopper .,if the mech inst moving freely it may need to be lubricated . then look inside the hopper and see if it turns by hand .some older hoppers had a selinoid that held them locked till needed you may have to push down the plunger on the selinoid while doing this if yours is so equipped . if it doesn't you may need to lubricate it also . then plug the hopper back in and try it again . most of the problems you have sound like dirty corroded connections . good luck looks like a nice machine .

odds are no there aren't original parts available anymore but we can probably get it up and functional . as for the handle its probably original .if its working to spin the reels now i wouldn't worry about it. there are allot of this style machine around and depending on when it was made it will have different components i have an older model that has a handle that doesn't ratchet but the reels are central belt driven and stop by a selinoid on each reel .so just because one doesn't have a ratchet doesn't mean yours shouldn't have one .it all depends on what the maker had available at the time .

Seems like alot wrong with this machine , and it only came with 6 tokens that are the size of a 50 cent peice . I have over 2000 25 cent tokens for my bally machines . Wonder if it would be cheaper to just buy another machine ( you can get them here in michigan for under 100 dollars with tokens ) and take the insides of that machine and put them in this machine . I would like to use this case with the arm still working . My girlfriend works at a sign company so changing the graphics would not be that hard what do you guys think thanks Jim
