you should have all your machines on power strips. the power is still getting to the transformer when machine is turned off.

someone had one burn up while the machine was shut off

The transformers will continue to generate heat even while the machine is off. I have all of mine connected to X10 appliance modules so I can turn all of my machines on and off at once by remote. What i did was connect up to 5 machines to a power strip so I have a breaker before the transformers, and then the power strip connected to the X10 module. The X10 appliance module is rated at 15Amp, and each machine draws approximately 1Amp. Well within the rating of X10 appliance modules.

Mine are on "protected" strips, and they are OFF when not in use.

I also have most of mine on power strips and turn them off when I'm not using them. The only one that's plugged directly into the wall gets unplugged when not in use.

Mine are usually on when I'm at home. I do turn them off when it's hot out since they can heat up the house a bit. I have 5 in the den, 2 in the kitchen, and 9 in the family room. I have 7 more in storage (6 Pachislo and 1 vintage Pachinko) , but will be bringing them back home soon. With that having been said; the X10 system was a very wise investment for me.

That looks like a good deal on the Kill A Watt meter... Anyone who doesn't already have one should pick one up.

no, I keep all of mine on power strips and turn them off that way. I do power them up at least once a week just to keep them from reseting but that is not something that needs to be done.

I have shut my ThunderBirds machine off from the inside (The power box on the left) while I was cleaning on the inside of the machine. After about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes the small transformer (converting one on the right of the hopper) started making noise and a few seconds later combusted into flames. I unplugged the machine as fast as I could and blew out the fire. Now I am left with a non working machine because of this burnt out transformer. Is there any place that sells these converting (japanese to us power) around here? I live in Canada but will ship in from the US. This is my first machine, and only had it for a week . I have now Idea of the specs, power in/power out, since the transformer burnt. All help is appreciated! Thanks!

Try Gaku... He has good heavy duty transformers reasonable. You need a 110vac to 24vac transformer. It's pretty standard for most machines. The ones from Gaku will work for you.

The one that was installed in your machine was most likely under rated, or installed in Japan making it 100vac. Where did you get your machine?
