    Default George Carlin - RIP

George Carlin, a Grammy-winning comedian, actor and writer, who became a counter-culture figure famed for his routines about drugs and dirty words, died of heart failure near Los Angeles Sunday, Reuters reported. He was was 71.

Carlin, who had a history of heart problems, died at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica after being admitted earlier in the afternoon for chest pains, spokesman Jeff Abraham told Reuters.

Carlin became an anti-Establishment icon in the 1970s with stand-up bits full of drug references and a routine about seven dirty words you could not say on television. A regulatory battle over a radio broadcast of his comedy routines ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court.

He released 22 solos albums and three best-selling books was famous for his "Seven Words You Can Never Say On TV" routine. He also acted in a variety of movie and TV roles.

Carlin was due to be awarded the 11th annual Mark Twain Prize for American Humor by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts at November 10 ceremony, according to an AP report.
    Meanwhile, somewhere in Oklahoma.

I just heard before I logged on to Pachitalk. The world has lost a philosopher and humorist that continually made people question their own motives and look at themselves and laugh. making fun of everything and anything that made wither no sense or to much sense. His irreverent humor and view of life will be sorely missed.

That Sucks. I really liked him. I have some of his old albums from the 60's and 70's my dad gave me, like Class Clown and AM/FM. I'm glad I had a chance to see him live. About 18 years ago at Westbury Music Fair Long Island, NY.

I have not felt this much of a loss since Harry Chapin died. Carlin truly left a positive legacy and used humor and humility to effect the world around him in the best way he could.

Very sad... Another great comedian gone! Richard Pryor was another good comedian that was taken too soon. Out of all the comedian in the world; why is it always the funny ones that die.

Here is the wiki page of all known comedians, and the dates they were born. If applicable; it also includes the date they died (physically, not their career).

Although gone physically, I think George will live on for generations to come through his body of work.

    (no more new material though)
