    Default Taiyo Mars has landed

It arrived Yesterday but I didnt start working on it untill around
Mid night due to a fever. I really wanted to go over it so I took some Dayquil and WOW!!! Whats in that stuff? I just finished working on it about an hour ago! Straight thru mind you.

Without a doubt this has been the most extensive restoration I have ever done in terms of cleaning. I Was going to take pics of the whole process but I ran out of room on my floor with so many pieces so I couldnt. Besides it would have added hours to an already endless night.

I did manage to get a few shots just before the tear down and did take pics of the final machine.

This is a list of what I did since last midnight.

Aside of the typical corrosion,Rust and parlor Tar there was this black soot material on everything in the back and it also went through all tracks and switches. It was as if something blew it into the back of the machine???

Every part was taken off and Disassembled and I mean disassembled I completely took apart every component every screw nut bolt spring washer etc. The wire Harness was even removed.

Broken parts were repaired, New mounts made epoxy etc

The cabinet was painted with Latex Satin Varnish

All individual wires were cleaned from the Harness to the Power cord.

Every contact and connector was cleaned with either solvent or using the Dremel tool. Most I used both on. Untill they shined like a mirror.

    Every Socket was cleaned.

The PC boards were completely cleaned until they shined. Every component on them was cleaned until there was no tar and it shined like new. Caps ,Resistors every part.

Every plastic part was washed in a tub of Simple Green then dried with paper towels then cleaned indivdualy with windex and Qtips then dried again then finished off with Brillianeze.

Some Plastic parts were polished with Novus 2 on top of the above.

All fasteners were replaced with new ones. If they couldnt be replaced they were polished ( Small wing nuts)

The Transformer was stripped of Corrosion and then polished.

The pins were hand polished using Brasso for brass.

All metal was polished with metal polish including the Cell tracks.

    The speaker was completely cleaned.

The Playfield was cleaned with Windex using just Qtips then wiped down with a soft cloth. Then I used the Cell Pica Cleaner
Followed by another wipe down and then applying Brillianeze with Qtips.

On and on I couldnt stop had to have been the dayquil?

To be honest I probably forgot half of what was done to it.

The final result all said and done? A machine that is cleaner then it was from the Factory!!!

Only 3 things left to be done One to replace all scoreboard bulbs.

They all work but I want all new replacements, I have enough bulbs but three are missing the rubber boots that mount them to their place on the board. I cant remember from who I ordered the boots for my Electron. So I will wait for the boots when I find a seller before I change all of the bulbs.

I also want to order a new speaker as even with all of the cleaning it is very low in sound and there is no Volume control that I can adjust. It was corroded along its edges and its face and rear were filthy.

I will also replace the front glass as there are 2 fine horizontal scratches across the center.

I might find some spots I missed later on but I dont think so.

Well Im in babel stage right now. The machine does work nice and smooth I wish I had the energy to play it some.

There is one drawback it uses tokens that are not Pachislo size
and not JINN sized? Its another size yet again. Ill give more details later on.

The first 2 pics are of the machine just as I was starting to take it apart. Remember all work is done on the Kitchen floor which is about a 5' x4' space with the machine, parts, tools and myself sharing!!! Im now a Pretzel.

Eddie, you are an insane person! I look at what you've done and marvel at how gorgeous your machine turned out. But it scares me to think of the time it will take me to get mine looking the same! Still, you're an inspiration to us all.

Oops, my bad. I promise I'll stop with this one. I only needed one arepachi for my mini-museum, and this one looked like it might be in working order. Anyway, think of the money I saved you! Oh, and thanks for all your advice, it's keeping me from accidentally trashing this little beauty.

Eddie, How much square footage do you have left in you home for moving around?
