Default Zoltan Coin op how to

There have been numerous request for info on the Zoltan conversion so I will post it here sorry no step by step pics.

1 lie machine on its back.

2 From the bottom of the machine loosen the four corner threaded rods from the cap nuts on top of the machine by turning the locknuts counter clockwise. (IF a locknut comes off from the threaded rod dont fret follow proceedure #)

3 Remove the top four threaded rod cap nuts from the top of machine. NOT THE THREADED RODS!

4 Carefully raise machine back to upright position.

    5 remove top of machine

The left SIDE in my directions is the LEFT side on the machine with ZOLTAN facing you. The Right Side of the machine is the RIGHT side of the Machine with ZOLTAN facing you.

6 Now slide the LEFT side of the machine to the edge of a table so that the LEFT side RODS are exposed from underneath. With machine in Front of you on a table ZOLTAN should be facing to your right.

7 Remove the LEFT SIDE RODS by drawing them from the bottom of the machine with a twisting /Pulling motion. You may have to wiggle the corrisponding edges of the machine to free the tight spots as you pull.

8 Now rotate the machine over the table edge with ZOLTAN facing you WITHOUT lifting, so that the FRONT RIGHT ROD is exposed from underneath.

THE NEXT STEP IS TOUGH as the walls are held together with the Threaded rods. THE FRONT Wall of the machine has wires attached and you wouldnt want to rip them out!

9 Remove the FRONT RIGHT ROD as you did the previous rods only this time BE VERY CAREFUL!! With your hand or other device hold the LEFT SIDE of the MACHINE TO THE FRONT of the machine and KEEP THE SIDES TO THE BOTTOM of the machine.

10 Rotate machine back to the original position with Zoltan Facing right.

YOU should now have the machine Standing upright with ZOLTAN facing to the right with the 2 rods in front of you and the Rod on the Far Right corner removed.

11 VERY CAREFULLY remove the left side wall towards you.
Start near the Top and work your way down. You can see how the wall is held together in the corners.

You should now have the machine in front of you with ZOLTAN facing to the right with the left side removed facing you. The Front wall held in place by friction alone in its RIGHT front corner. The rear RIGHT corner should still have a ROD holding the REAR wall and the RIGHT WAll together

REMEMBER the front wall has the electrical wires for the Lights,Switches and Curtain Motors. These are connected at the bottom center of the WAll to the bottom right of the Floor. You DO NOT want to pull the FRONT WALL out of the machine like you did the LEFT side wall. You want to lower it down as if it were HINGED along the BOTTOM which it is not.

12 Now you want to lower the FRONT WALL so make sure that you have room on the table for the wall to lay.

    YOU are almost done

You should now have the machine on the Table in front of you with ZOLTAN facing to the right with its front lowered to the table and its left side the one facing you removed.

You will see a group of wires taped or heat glued at the front bottom of the floor. The wires you want are the Yellow wires which are the Switch wires connected to the front face RED light Button. Simply Cut them from the switch. DO NOT REMOVE THE SWITCH and remove the tape holding them in place.

13 Connect long lenghts of wire to each yellow wire.
The lenght has to take into account the distance you will need for how far down your coin mech SWITCH will be, PLUS enough to allow REMOVAL of the COIN BOX without having to dissconnect the wires from it.

14 Drill a Hole for the wires to exit the machine along the bottom of the floor somewhere UNDER the Purple CLOTH.
The Hole should corrispond to the Hole on top of your Platform. Pull the wires through the hole being careful not to rip them out of the machine. Tape the excess back down making sure they do not interfere with the curtain motion.

15 Raise the Front Wall of the machine making sure the bottom is connectd to the Floor and that the wires and curtain are clear of the joint.

16 Connect the Right front of the machine to the Right Side Wall. Rotate machine so that the Right front corner is over the edge of the table and insert a rod from below.

17 Install left side wall and insert rods the reverse steps that you removed them.

18 Place Top back on machine and start the ROD CAP Nuts on the threaded rods. lie machine on its back and Then push rods from top untill CAP Nuts are seated in their recess.

19 Tighten lock nuts in reverse that you removed them. Dont over do it!!!

PROCEEDURE# TAP ROD OUT OF MACHINE THROUGH THE TOP of machine from the BOTTOM of machine with a small nail, rod, etc just enough for the rod CAP nut to clear its recess then pull rod up and out of machine
the way you removed the rods from the bottom.
TO install, hold rod with pliers anywhere along its lenght. (Dont worry about the threads being damaged as they are not needed. The threads are only needed along the TOP and Bottoms of the rods). Remove the rod CAP NUT and reinstall the lock nut on the bottom of the threaded rod.
Simply install the rod as you did the others.

20 All that is left, is to connect the 2 Yellow wire extensions to the coin op mech or switch of your choice according to the mfgs instructions.
If no Instructions, just connect them to the micro switch within the mech. I did post 3 pics of the switch that I had to connect to within the coin op mech. In the pics I was just testing the the correct connections and feasability of the mech.
In the finished mech I used quick connectors for the wires on the switch .
My coin op mech was more complicated then needed as it is electrically operated with a solenoid switch which holds the coin untill the device is initiated. I had to bypas the solenoid to make it work on this machine. A simpler Coin op mech would be better just a Gravity coin op mech. I got mine on ebay for very cheap thats why I went with it.

I hope these instructions were clear wish I had pics would have made the directions much easier.

One More thing Make sure that the hole you use for the wires in the pedestal is large enough to accomodate the connectors that you use on your wires. if you ever have to remove the machine from the pedestal for service it would be a bad thing if you coudlnt get the wires through.

Some pics I found of the Coin Box I made. Just to give ideas.

Remember I used an (As is Zoltan) to use as a learning tool to find the best way to open it. If you follow my directions you will save lots of headaches!

Well, I'm all ready to try this... have the tools, have the wood, even know where I can get a stand. But I am missing Zultan!! Does anyone have a spare Zultan I could buy off them cheap? I'm sort of stranded from anyplace that would sell them, and online I can only find them for like $100 since they are out of season.

I don't want to wait until Halloween to build one. =) Does anyone who purchased one on this forum but didn't end up using it want to resell it to me? As long as it works, I don't care if you took it out of the box. =) Please let me know, and we can arrange it by paypal. Thanks!
