    Default Plastic Flap

Anyone know what the plastic flap/strip is for along the steel ball ramps? (in picture). It is not to keep the balls from falling through the crack between the glass and ramp as there is now way they could fit. Is it to prevent some type of tampering? I would like to leave them off a restoration I am doing unless they are neccessary for some unseen by me reason.

    I vote glass cusion/Dust collector

Cusion the glass if is gets pressed against the metal rails and as the balls ball and drop the dust they picked up from the air it falls down the front of the glass to the plastic strip which collects the dust and can be easily cleaned.

Also some machines have them on the otherside of the playfield as well.
