Default Whoa lightning in my backyard!

Well a nasty storm just rolled through and lightning zapped the tree a few feet from our sons club house taking out a 30' oak. The flash was blinding and the pop was hair raising!! (in the pic, it is the green past those big clay pots over to the shattered tree above the club house)

It broke up the ladder at the end so now I have some repairs on top of getting rid of the tree! I guess it could have been worse though!

Time to get the chainsaw out and put it to good use!

Cool Re: Whoa lightning in my backyard!

Hahaha you guys are too much! yeah that club house is a little more deluxe then the one I put up as a kid "borrowing" lumber from the local construction sites, using bent up rusty ole nails

This thing took me over a week to build (it was a kit, but a huge pain and the instructions (like most) left alot to be desired!!!) My Pop helped me build this one I let him read the instructions and I did the screwing and hammering!

Ya got to love these Florida summer storms, uhhhg!

We just had some short storms pop through today in Jacksonville. This morning the rain came down so hard for about 20 minutes you could not see the car in the driveway. The weather today was enough to kill the power twice. The generator got a work out. At least I know it's up to the job for the Hurricane season.

One of my dogs, (Wilbur) hates the thunder boom ers. She has a prescription from Wall Greens that states "Take 1/2 pill 1/2 hour before storm. On the fourth of July I have to Dope her up all day. This morning at 3 AM she sprang on the bed and shook it from fear.

Glad to hear you are all alright. You need to put a lightning arrestor on that club house. Would not want to blow out the DTV and High Def TV in it...

I used to have to drug my dog up during the storms and 4th July too!! She was already on hydroxizine (antihistamine) and they made her groogy, the vet just use those because I if give you anything else your dog will be like a zombie. It worked for many years like that! She was a mellow sheppard on them.

I am be on them soon if we get any more close calls like todays!!!

I worked at a JC Penny catalog return store. We resold all the stuff that people returned for what ever reason. My job was to put all the stuff together. Most of the time there were no instructions and no doubt missing parts. What's fun is when your finished and you still have parts left over and you were missing parts to begin with.
