I lost a third of my 401k in the market thru Aetna's poor choice of stocks on their mutuals funds

I was locked in these funds and couldn't take the money out until I retired.

I was locked in these funds and couldn't take the money out until I retired.

In a 10 year period, my CREF stock funds only lost money (periodically) or grew slower (ultimately) than my TIAA "traditional" funds. Fortunately for me they could be 100% liquidated or rolled-over on my demand.
