Default Is there a hybrid Pachinko?

I own both Vintage and Modern Pachinkos. To be honest I love the shooter mech of the Vintage Pachinkos far more than the shooter of the Modern machines.
With the Vintage shooter you get to feel what the balls are doing and you have lots of control. You really get to be part of the game.
With the Modern electrical shooter you cant feel a thing and shooting is not nearly as accurate. Your more of an observer than player.

    Does anyone else agree?

    My main question is this.

Are there any Modern machines, 80s - Present with the vids, sounds, lights etc that has a Vintage ball shooter?

Eddie I agree also that the vintage flip shot shooter is nice. But we have learned with our modern pachinkos to use the single shot button on the modern pachinko shooters. What this does is allow for better aiming and less wasted balls per shot. My understanding is that most modern pachinkos have the single shot button available. But I do agree that the vintage pachinko shooters also allow you to feel what the balls are doing.

I haven't seen a modern day pachinko with the vintage shooter but I wouldn't put it past the Japanese to have one out there somewhere. I know that I would be very interested in it also.

The only modern machine with a vintage flipper thing (technical term) that I've ever seen is that newer mahjong game that I think you already know about!!

Hey Eddie, why don't you try and make one yourself, I bet that would be an interesting project, putting an old ball launcher on a modern game!!

actually that thought had crossed my mind,
when i was at the hardware store a few weeks ago and i had seen some nice nails that resembled pachinko nails.. (not exactly i could have just been making the connection)

I like the idea of a vintage ball launcer on a modern machine. I hope someone tries this.

I agree that the vintage ball launcer takes more skill and control. It would be nice to have a comination of the old style launcher with the modern lights and sounds!

There is a pachinko that is more or less the opposite of what you're looking for.. "Sky Boat" or "Ferris Wheel". It has a vintage-style playing area with only a few sound effects, but it is in a modern case with a modern shooter knob:

It is (at least sometimes) my son's favorite of our 5 machines..

Unfortunately, as I also enjoy the manual shooter machines, they are unavailable in modern day pachinko parlors in Japan. They are all automatic. I'm waiting for the day when they re-introduce the machines from the 70's as they were a helluva lot of fun.

Yep my girlfriend introduced me to using the single shot on my modern pachinkos. She felt sorry for me everytime she beat me in the contests we have. Now I can come close at times to matching her.
Using the one shot at a time helps calibrate the proper positioning of the shooter knob and at the same time allows a better feel to the game which of course allows a better percentage of balls to hit the target(s)

I often play Pachinko by shooting one ball at a time, and I feel sure that they fire with more power and precision too...

You know I think it would be fun to try and make one.
The main problem as far as Im concerned is finding a very Cheap modern machine to convert.

Attaching a manual shooter is just a matter of the right placement and brackets.
Might have to bypass some electrics here and there if removing the Automatic shooter keeps the machine from playing.

What type of machine would this be called?

From what I understand of the workings of most modern machines everything else shood work without the automatic shooter.
My Cutie Honey works just fine without any of the ball system on the machine. Some parts have been altered as the shooter and the board it hooks to were dead when I receved the machine. Now it is set up to spin the reels by pressing a button and uses no balls at all.

    That is really neat!!

I feel quite drawn to the Mahjong theme too, I'm wondering just how difficult it is to play these type of games which no doubt will be entirely in Japanese??

Although those step by step pics are helpful, but gotta love those translations

Another thought about conversion...keeping in mind I don't know much about these machines yet.

Aren't the automatic ball launchers still spring operated with a motorized "cocker?" If so, wouldn't it be possible to use the existing launchers, disconnect the power to it, and add a lever?

I could be completely off...just throwing it out there.

Some are levers and springs with a tripper on a motor, others are simple solenoids. Some have mechanical systems to place a ball in front of the hammer, some are electric.

The only reason I don't feel that a flipper would be good on an electric machine is that the odds of getting anything are low, that's why the electric shooters are around - to put as many balls as possible into the playfield. A hanemono game might work better with a flipper than a digital. Plus opening up any side pockets a bit more so you can win something.

I personally think it would be more interesting to put a vintage game in a more modern (maybe not too new, say early 90's) frame, have an auto shooter for a vintage. The electronics are minimal, mostly shooter mech, maybe payout system (some payout systems are mechanical, some electro-mechanical). On frames with a speaker, come up with a bell sound or wire one up so that it makes some noise!
