Default Time for the Darkside? star wars or indiana

It is time for me to tread into the darkside. Ive given it a lot of thought and decided that i have become bored with my sinbad adventure but not my king camel. I am therefore going to sell the sinbad and get a pachinko. SO, im looking at Star Wars (as im a star wars nut) but also Indiana Jones as with most star wars fans, as we mellow and lose our hair we gravitate to the other great lucas masterpiece of indy. Which one would you go for? star wars or indy, im feeling that the star wars would be a great collectible in terms of holding value but the indy looks awesome too. What holds the best playability? I have a plan to have the indiana jones wall mounted with my kenner indiana jone figures over the top (ive only got 4 in cards, sallah, toht, belloq and cairo swordsman) but notice that Toht is themed on the machine, are any of these other characters present in the machine as i think my machine and display would be quite fitting. Cheers, malc

Well the obvious and sensible choice would be to just get both!

Out of the two, I only have SW and I can highly recommend it.....But when it comes to these two machines, I really doubt that you will be disappointed no matter which one you chose! !

Well I think you gotta go with your own thoughts on this one.....

My first Pachinko was Star Wars and it is still as Awesome to play now as it was when I first got it over 9 months ago - and if you realy are a Star Wars Nut then you'll absolutely love it!

Indiana Jones is also fantastic and I've not got bored of that one either

but saying that, I feel the same way about all of them - so maybe I'm not the best person to give advice on Pachinkos

I just say get them both!

If it's a toss up on theme, go with the better deal to start with unless you know and have played a pachinko before. Keep your investment to a minimum until you're sure the sphere is for you.

I got SW and Had IJ. I traded IJ after three months due to the fact I found it somewhat Boring. The Characters on IJ are great looking, and there are some neat Indy Chance (mission)modes, but that's about it. I was surprised about the 100 chance mode on the Indy...He just walks along a ledge in a tunnel and occasionally gets attacked or has to outrun the collapsing walkway....I was very bored with that. I do like the movies, and the pachinko machine looks great for the Indy, but I just wasn't amused with the playability. The choice is yours of course...You can always sell the King camel as well and get both.

Wow that is a tough call, I have both & would find it difficult to make a call on which one I would prefer. As a few have mentioned the great thing is which ever one you go for, you can then always get the other just as a cell & then swap between the two.

Similar to hanabi I started off with Star Wars & then got Indy, I have to be honest that I have probably played Indy more than Star Wars over the last 6 months. However both are keepers as far as I am concerned. I posted some video of Indy in the musuem a month or so ago (not sure if you have watched it or not?).

Hope you enjoy whichever one you decide to go with

I have both...although I've only had Star Wars for a few days. They have similar gameplay. It's really a toss up and comes down to which theme you like more. Both are excellent machines.

Indy covers the full trilogy and features the following characters:

Indy, Toht, Willie Scott, Mola Ram, Short Round, Henry Jones, Elsa Schneider and Vogel.....with appearances by Mola Rams henchmen, snakes, rats, spiders and the usual props.

Star Wars covers Episode 4 - 6. I haven't played it long enough to know all the characters off the top of my head for sure. I think they are Luke, Leia, Han Solo, Darth Vadar, Jabba the Hutt, Chewbacca, a Storm Trooper and Boba Fett. 3PO and R2 make appearances and of course there's the big R2 animatronic.

I think Star Wars offers slightly more use of the Chance button.

well not being a starwars fan to be honist i have had a few starwars machines through my hands and not even once contemplated keeping one but im thinking that one of my next cells will be indy as i have had a few indy machines through my hands and actualy liked playing them (have to play every machine till it feevers befor selling it) but saying that none of my personal machines are of famouse theames ie starwars indy top gun ect the only one that has grabbed me and im looking for for my self and probebly wont resell is 007 not because im a james bond fan but because of the work that has gone in to the cell (multiple moniters, the "real time" counter ect) it realy looks a good machine and cought my eye like juley did when i got my juley machine i payed over £500 for it myself as it was the first one in the uk and would not resell it for love nor money i would liek a theam that people who visit recognise instead of a japanese theam and indy and 007 will probebly be them.

I think this is the best advice.. rather than choose which you are going to like better (since the consensus is that many people find each to be good machines--BTW, I have Indy and I like it a lot), set a reasonable budget and get the next available machine that fits your budget.

It would suck to get that $400 special RED Star Wars because you love Star Wars so much, only to find that for $100 you could have gotten an Indy and found out you don't really like pachinko (perish the thought!--but I guess it could happen).

A more realistic problem is not which should you get, but where will you put them when you get both, and three to ten more. The sphere is an addiction and an affliction, but in a good way!

A fellow action figure conasieur. I sold my Kenner Indy Jones figures about ten years ago when I sold my Star Wars collection. I used to manage a shop called Toy Store Collectibles in Manchester for two great guys and we specialised in Star Wars, Star Trek, Indy Jones toys ets. For nostagic reasons I wish I`d kept both collections now but I did keep a set of 1979 Nickerbocker Lord Of The Rings Figures (real rarities in toyland). On the machine front I love both of these machines but a bit of it is based on childhood nostalgia methinks. The Star Wars music is repetitive and after a while can drive you nuts no matter how big a fan you are. The Indy machine to me is different as it combines animation with live action. I think the Indy looks and plays a little better but I have both so I`m spoilt. If you do get the Indy and do the figure display be sure to post a pic in members toys. I may buy a LOTR machine now just to do the same with my figures. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, Pete (Lindowman146).

I haven't tried the Indy, but the Star Wars is a good game and worth adding to anyones collection. Not really my favourite game of the collection, but I think that's more down to personal taste rather than the quality of the game.

It's easy for you to say that when you're 4000 miles away from Malc !

Now who was it, who is just a half hour drive along the coast and has quite a few pachinkos (including a Star Wars), and would be happy to welcome any pachinko fans who might like to visit and play a few games (as he might be able to sell them some card reader emulator dongles while they're visiting) .....

Malc, send me a PM if you want to give Star Wars (and a few others!) a try before comitting yourself to buying a pachinko.

Nice one, that would be good!. I will give you a ping as soon as im free as im often going off to lewes..
And to everybody else on here, thanks for all the fantastic advice. I could not possibly ever ever ever get rid of the king camel though, that machine is just pure amusment and quality. Terrible sound, but makes me chuckle everytime i play it. Sinbad Adventure may be staying now. Ive saved up a couple of hundred quid and steve from 777 heaven may be getting a call very shortly. Indy is sounding more tempting all the time.
