I thought I would throw this out to yall, something I just learned and tried
    Hydrogen peroxide
sponge some on something rusty and it will break up the oxy
put it on and let dry then use scotchbrite pad and mothers chrome polish or other
It really helped me on some glass surrounds

    Nevr-Dull® Wadding Polish!

    Works for me great!
You can use Nevr®-Dull on all metals. That includes brass, copper, steel, pewter, and chrome, but you can even use it on fine jewelry metals like gold, platinum and sliver! Using wadding as a metal polish is simple, effective and easy. Best of all, it’s affordable, too! The polish uses no harmful abrasives. It does all of its miraculous work with high tech solvents that are perfectly safe for your treasured car, boat or motorcycle! Avoid the messiness of other polishes by using this stress-free wadding to polish your vehicle’s eye catching contours. Simply tear off a piece of wadding and rub it onto the metal area you with to beautify. Then, wipe away the residue to reveal the elusive shine you’ve been looking for your whole life!
Nevr-Dull® is also tough enough to remove rust, tar and stubborn surface contaminants from your vehicle, almost to the point of dubbing it a one-step cleaner and polisher!
Consistency and performance has been this product’s trademark since its conception.
Detailers and hobbyists alike have come to trust the affordable polish for its ease of use, and tremendous results!
