    Default Reprogramming the memory

    Hi All,

Has anyone looked into making a custom pachislo or pachinko and include changing the programing? Can I take my Yada Yada Yada pachislo, and redo all the graphics AND change the sounds, play, code?

In other words, is there an OPEN SOURCE CODE for the reprograming of these machines? It seems to me that it wouldn't be that hard, as long as it was in English. I've seen chip docks at Radio Shack that allow you to reprogram a chip. All I would need is a source code to read the chip. Once I figure out how it's programed, it's seems to me it would be a simple switch on the audio and the video

    Any Suggestions?

    Thank You,
    Charlie

The chips used to hold the program code that controls the game operation are proprietary secure processors. They are based on the Z80 processor, so there are plenty of free development tools available for disassembling and modifying the code. The only problem is that you need a reprogrammable replacement chip and a suitable programmer to read/write from them.

There are a few korean websites offering processors that are compatible with the original secure processors, and the programming tools, but they are very expensive (about $2000 for the programmer, and $50 each for the processors).

If you're still interested then these are the people to contact for buying the kit needed to reprogram the chips.

    http://www.doskorea.com/

On most of the modern pachinkos you will also need to reprogram the seperate audio processor and the graphics processor. If all you want to do is change the sound and graphics, but keep the same game structure as the donor machine, then it might be possible to do this without any of the expensive kit above.

For example the Sankyo Lumina frame machines (along with some of the late Victory framed machines) use a Hitachi SH-3 processor for AV control and a Yamaha F111i sound processor. You'd need to find some flash memory with compatible pinouts to the one-time-programmable rom chips used for these processors though.

To be honest you'd be better off replacing the control electronics with a PC, and interfacing it to the LCD, reels and lamps.

Yes Tulsa, and we are not too proud of that.

i heard something about a EPROM chip. not sure if this applies to reprogramming.

Are you one of those Kooky people that walk around with a signboard yelling the end is near?

What signal are you exactly looking for?
