what machine ? who was the vendor ? Just start ? or was good than it showed up ?

Most E3 - E9 codes are electrical codes so it should be a code for the hopper. It could be the electronic eye that counts the tokens.

dump out all your tokens then examine the hopper there should be some wires attached to the hopper some goto the motor the others go to the counting mechanism or the sensor it should be located in the path the tokens take to exit the hopper some are mounted under the hopper and are interrupted by an arm that is spring loaded and moves when a token is ejected then springs back sometimes this needs some lubricant so the arm moves freely . the ones that are mounted directly need to be cleaned of dust bunnies and other such stuff so the sensor can see the light and count the tokens . it would help to know what the machine is and the hopper style pictures always help . i take it the prize won is over 10 tokens if not then the above is defiantly the problem .
