    Default Don Don King Broken?

Hi everyone, last march I bought a Don Don King on eBay, and now I am having trouble with it, it was working fine until I noticed taht the reset key quit working so now I have to push the button inside the machine ok no big deal. Then the machine kept getting errors when i would hit the cash out button, or if I got a payout, making me reset it. But now it just gets one when it feels like it, I left it on and wasn't even playing it and it just got an error out of nowhere. If I leave it off for long periods of time and when I go to turn it on, it is on an error so I have to reset it when I first turn it on.the error is E-8, but does anyone have any idea what could be causing the problem? Could a wire be lose or something? Supposedly it has a lifetime warranty but I don't feel like paying for shipping back to the company to get ti fixed.Sorry if this is a confusing post, thanks for any replies.

The part about getting an error after the game has been off for a while is normal. A lot of machines do that. They lose there memory after being off. Some only after a few hours and some could be off for months befroe it happens. The other errors sound like dirty hopper optics. I would break the hopper down and give it a good cleaning. Then make sure all the connections are nice and tight too.

check the wires by the lock on the inside of the door, one may have come loose.

ddk the door reset will not reset all faults. sometimes you have to use the hard reset. so if your fault is a hard reset only the the key switch is of no help.

Electronic goldmine has a keylock on sale for 99 cents. It is just missing the locknut. http://www.goldmine-elec.com/

I also see some goodies to make other things too and replacement LEDs.

it wont clear the error if the problem still exists (it clears and registers again) don don is one of the few machines that monitors coin out put from the hopper even when the hopper isn't running (if you force the hopper to eject a coin by hand it will error if its not expecting a token to come out .) it sounds like you either have a token jammed in the sensor path way or the sensor is dirty and cant see the light . either way as Chris said take the hopper apart and clean the optic pathway . also check the wiring on both sides of the receptacle for the hopper for broken pins or wires.also check the overflow sensors right next to the hopper( two prongs sticking out from the back wall at the bottom right hand side of the machine with wires attached to them. ) make sure there not touching each other or you will get an error also .good luck
