Default Julie get a paint tray

I didn't want to chop up the Lumina Frame so I decided to go the Lucky Dog Paint Tray route. I built the tray into the cabinet, pretty basic really and the best part is ....it actually works!!!!

Now that design I like. It brings the balls from back to front and gives you access to them without having to stop shooting.

I find it much easier even in regular play, just reach down and grab a handful for your shooting tray

Very good, an improvement on the original idea. I like the neatness and attention to detail.

Well, the paint tray was a bit drummy sounding when the balls hit it....solution.....use another one of Lucky Dogs ideas.....slid an old mouse pad under the ball chute in the back of the tray. Nice and quiet. You da man LD.

Well, let me correct myself and give credit where it's due. I believe it was Slothappy144 who started the paint tray thing. http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16432
I don't know, may have been a group think tank thing, but anyway it works like a champ.
Arby, I'm sorry but I had to undo some of your hard work and move things around a bit. But, I didn't monkey with the frame, that thing is as solid as a tank.
Anyway, good job and thanks to those whos Ideas I have used in this project.

Just to clarify the idea is in the public domain of Pachitalk. Arby put a long tray under a pachinko, I posted a stand with a bottom that sloped to the front. LuckyDog suggested the use of a paint tray, I actually tried the suggestion on the next machine I received and posted the results. Many of us were discussing the issue so I might have missed a contributor or two, sorry guys.
End result: the community has a cheap and simple way to make their pachinko experience better. I believe that is what pachitalk is about.

Better than a paint tray, a desk "in box" reversed with only 2 feet on the back of it

and a mouse pad glued to the bottom.

and its tall enough in the back that it won't come out from the front of the pachinko.

I found 3 of these at Goodwill

I had done the paint tray thing to my Friends machine but ended up putting a ball tray in the back and slid it forward when needed. For some reason was not a fan of the paint tray. Maybe it was the looks of it. The in box does not look too bad luckydog. After doing the cyclic thing to my Galaxy Train I don't think I would go any other way from now on. I like not having to fill the top. One reason I like it is that I may install them in an opening in the wall and then will not have to worry about filling the top which had been one of my how is it going to be done concerns.
    and a few others.

Since luckydog posted his funnel mod, which is a very good idea I might add, I thought I would show a little more detail of my down spout ball chute. The first photo shows how the down spout was notched and fit over the tapered heel block and hot glued in place. The second photo shows how the tapered block directs the balls toward the back of the chute and into the paint tray. The balls can only go toward the front of the tray so there is little or no bounce. The mouse pad really quiets the whole thing down. With the paint tray mounted in place in the cabinet scooping balls up to the shooter tray or the top hopper is no problem. My next project........expanding the payout ball hopper using a piece of rain gutter. Stay tuned.........

    Very Cool do!!

Musky watch out on that increase the hopper at the top, to heavey it will break the plastic. I did a tupper wear reqtangle bowl above it and a hole in it to flow down ward. I screwed it to the frame.

Ok, final installment on the Julie/Lumina Frame cabinet. I've brought the volume control to the front (white knob-upper left) and expanded the payout ball hopper. I wimped out and did not use the rain gutter but went with wood and pvc down tube. Ok, I'm no carpenter and screwed up on the wood cut, but the hopper is deep enough to get you through a fever round. Any extra balls I need, I just scoop out of the paint tray, place in that little bowl to the left and dump them back in the top hopper with out missing a beat. Anybody got an extra lumina frame laying around? I'm looking for one.
    Later gaters.
