Default Daido coin sensor question (auto-stop with credit)

    Hello all,

I got one of Vince's Auto-stops with credit and am having troubles on what wires to connect the credit add to...

The machine is a Daido "Fever Queen" the chip I am using is the AS-04 it is the 3 wire sensor (Vince thought it was a 3 wire since a previous Daido one he worked on was-it was not a fever queen model I forgot which one he said it was).

Any help would really be appreciated, right now I have the chip in there and I am just using the autostop the credit wires I have just zip tied up since I do not know where to go with them.

    Help help please!!
    Thanks!

Have you checked out Vince's web site here?

    http://www.autoslot.info/credit.htm

He gives the wire colors to connect.

Yes, I have been there and talked to Vince but unfortunately the daido that he lists is not the same coin system as the fever queen, so the colors are different

Do you have a meter... and familiar with it's use?
It might be tough to find someone with that model AND the auto-stop / credit add.

I do and I tried to use it as best as I know how, but had no luck!! I see what I think to be the coin sensors (two side by side black things) with a wire harness going to them (4 wires... yellow, orange, red and brown).

These things that I think are the coin sensors are the last electric component before the coin falls into the hopper.

Not sure if any of this helps but just thought I would add it!

the red and brown are most likely the supply voltage put your meter across them and see if you read 5 volts dc although you might read more some can be as much as 12 0r 24 volt the other two wires are most likely the ones your looking for but see what you get across the red and brown first.

Ok I put my multi meter on the red and brown and it says 7.89 volts, so then I attach the two wires from the auto-stop switch to the yellow and orange?

    Thanks alot

now try between the brown and the other two and let me know what you get. then do the same with the red wire (red to yellow and red to orange ).7.89 is an odd number so let me know what you find out.

    OK here goes:

    Brown to Red: 7.88v

    Brown to Orange: 7.07v

    Brown to Yellow: 7.08v

    Red to Yellow: .785v

    Red to Orange: .805v

I am not too sure if it matters which lead from the volt meter goes to which wire, but all the above are either - or + (I guess that is a given but just thought I'd add it)

All these numbers are with the machine on and it just sitting idle.

    Thanks!

You are on the right track. Put the black (negative) voltmeter lead on the silver voltage regulator tab on the open end of the autostop. This is a “0” volt reference. Then probe each of the other wires and record the voltage. Do the same thing while slowly passing a token through the coin sensors and let me know the results.

You need to connect to the 2 wires that change voltage. The proper unit depends on the voltage level, and if the sensors go low or high when the token passes.

I knew the experts would be in shortly. I have installed 6 and it is a little different for each machine. if you find the 2 leds that flash when a token is passed it will help with the trouble shooting next step.

    Ok:

Yellow .793v no token / 6.94v token pass
Orange .803v no token / 7.08v token pass
Red 7.5mv no token / 6.0mv token pass
Brown 7.88v no token / 7.89v token pass

It was very hard to catch these so at one point I put the token in the end before the hopper and passed it in front of the sensor (unfortunely that gives a coin error, so I am unsure if these numbers are correct)

I forgot to add that even though the error occurs and the music plays, etc when I pass a coin in front of the sensors the 2 led's still flash on the mother board.

This stuff is all Japaneese to me

I tried those and then when it didn't worked I flipped the wires from the chip and still a no go.... I think I need an AS03 maybe instead of this AS04.

I'm not sure, I am waiting for wizard Vince to chime in again!

The limit is 5V for the base chip relays are needed to handle the extra voltage, I am not sure if the 7 is that far out it might be. mine are either 5v or 12v so it is a no brainer.

the as -04 handles more voltage than the standard units ,you have the proper wires but it sounds like you have a bad connection watch the red leds on the mother board for your machine when you put in a token you should see a couple flash, look when you place a token in till you see the pattern of flashes then push the button for your auto credit and see if you get the same pattern or if only one lights .also your normally low then going high when a token passes so you might just need that as-03 unit .

Alright the verdict is in, Vince emailed me and said that the AS03 and hook it to the Yellow and Orange wires and I should be fine.

I will report back in a few days when I get the 03 chip

Thanks to everyone that's helped out!

The AS-02C units use the microprocessor to switch the coin sensors, it can only handle 5 volts.
The AS-03 and AS-03-NO use relays with dry contacts. (normally closed and normally open respectively.) They can switch up to 24 volts.
The AS-04 uses open collector transistors, so it can switch up to 24 volts also.

Alrighty the Fever Queen is up and running with the AS03 with the auto-stops (2) A wires connected to the Orange and the wire cut in bewteen the T taps and the (2) B wires connected to the Yellow and the wire cut in between the T taps.

I sent some pics to Vince for his site.

Thanks Everyone and to Vince and all his hard work and help!
