    Default Hopper Motor always on

I have a bellrush pachislo machine. All of a sudden, the payout hopper motor runs constantly and will not turn off. Do you know what would cause this problem and how to fix it.

yeah turn off the switch that makes the hopper run its either on the hopper or on the power supply or on the door . and tell your kids to stay out of the machine . if it was a problem with your machine you'd get an error .......

I found a random screw in my Speed Racer that jammed the hopper. I'd suggest emptying, removing and inspecting it.

His hopper isn't jammed. The hopper dump switch is turned on.

I've looked all over and I don't see a switch on the power supply, the hopper, or the door that operates the hopper. The motor kicked on (and stayed on) after a payout.

try unpluging the hopper, then plug it back in.

if that doesn't work the hopper may need cleaning

I think my problem may be something more complicated than that. I have no idea how to trouble shoot a pcb, but I'm somewhat experienced with general circuitry. My machine doesn't appear to have a hopper dump switch, so I created one some time ago. I purchased a 3 pole, 2 position keylock switch. When I turn the switch to dump mode, it cuts the circuit for the coin counting mech and the motor feed from the hopper pcb...it then closes a circuit directly from the power supply to the motor...so the motor runs (spitting out coins) while the counter is disengaged.

I have modded all three of my machines and have been operating them for some time with this without a problem (until now). That's why I'm leaning towards an internal pcb problem that I was hoping someone has experienced.

    Here's my machines:

So let me get this straight.
We have been trouble shooting a modification and not original equipment?
Remove your mod and then tell us what happens.

Sorry I didn't mention that before. But like I said, I'm somewhat experienced with general circuitry. Removing the switch and wiring everything back to normal was the first thing I did...so it is like we are troublshooting an original setup.

I'm wondering if I replace the main PCB if this problem would go away?

The stand is custom...I own and run a CNC shop to make my own arcade products (as well as custom work). I can make custom stands for your pachislo and pachinko machines to your specs. But I don't want to spam this thread with promoting my services. I will create a new post in a different board regarding custom stands.

Yes, but that's not the problem. Unplugging the motor and taking a volt meter to the motor leads shows a constant 24volts. Before I added my mod, the motor leads read 0 volts normally and 24volts when the motor kicks on. I'm "assuming" that somewhere in the pcb, there is something that regulates this voltage.

if this is so and you don't have a hopper switch on this model then yes you probably shorted the driver for the hopper on the main PCB .We assume full disclosure is made in the first post and that the person is not tech savy when they post. that way we can walk them thru their problem so if you would have told us from the start you took voltage measurements on the connector it would have helped .you have to remember were BLIND when trying to help you !!!!! since you already knew the answer i guess you already know where to get a replacement and have ordered the replacement board ......

We can assume that if nobody has ever heard of this type of problem before... that your hopper mod somehow caused this.

And it's a new one on us.

So time to look for parts.

Sounds like the switch/transistor that controls the motor has shorted. It's typically a hefty NPN transistor. While a lot of the parts are now surface mounted, this device will be standing or chassis mounted with a screw thru the top of the case or metal tab at the top. It's not a critical part really.
if anyone has a print on it, it's an easy fixer.
