they have a coupon in their flyer for 10% off.

any comments on these. from what I've been reading up on they look like a fun toy

I have one Lucky...it's great. The screen resolution is fantastic. I've seen several movies for the first time on the PSP and it's surprisingly good. The games are very good as well. My favorite is Hot Shots Golf - probably the best, most enjoyable golf game I've ever played. Burnout is great too, if you like driving games. It plays MP3s, you can use it to carry around digital pics, and you can browse the web whenever you're in a wireless hotspot...all natively. A Pro Duo memory stick of 1gb or more is a must.

If I had to, I can only come up with a couple negatives...

There aren't as many games for the PSP as there are for the DS. But when the game is made for both, it's always better on the PSP. Let's just say the PSP has a lot of great titles and some not so great. The DS has more great titles and more crappy ones too.

Sony should have ripped off the pen input and mic input of the DS. These features add a LOT to gameplay, particularly the pen. There are many "adult" (no not THAT kind of adult) games where pen input really makes the game.

IMO the PSP is the best handheld console ever made, it's true that it doesn't have as many games but the capabilities are endless. From MP3's to movies, to older emulated platforms make it #1.

If you are into MAME or other types of emulation, then the PSP is for you. One downfall is that you will have to find an older PSP with version 1.5 firmware for most emulation to work. These can be found by reputable sellers all over ebay. Newer firmware versions can be downgraded but it takes a little time and know how.

If you are like me and spend alot of time at work, the psp is great for multimedia. I download all my favorite tv shows, and catch up on all I missed during breaks at work. There are many user friendly programs that will painlessly transfer you video's over to your PSP with just a few clicks. MP3's can be transfered straight to the memory card via a usb cable. And soon there will be a tv tuner attachment available.

The wifi is great aswell, surf the internet, check email, search ebay, post on pachitalk. Allthough the default Sony browser could have been alot better, but if you decide to get the 1.5 firmware version, you can use a much better browser that you can download free from www.psp-hacks.com

Go over to you tube and do a search for 1.5 psp, or devhook and there are a ton of great video's that will visually explain what I'm ranting about.
    Enjoy!

Yeah go for it , great handheld system , you might want to check the box on the one you buy for codes which are explained on a few sites http://www.psp-hacks.com/ and http://pspupdates.qj.net/ as the newest ones are being shipped with firmware 2.81 which at the moment is not down-gradable , and you need to downgrade it to play the downloaded iso's

Forgot to add for peeps that have got one take a search for these to pachislo's to download

very good snipe but unless you really like the tiger woods golf I'd try to get hot shots golf as said above its a great game. and its 15 bucks at used videogame stores. cant beat it. www.ign.com has good professional reviews of games just click on psp section.

I have the PsP, I bought one midnight day they came out. nice system I like the Tiger Wood golf. Avoid first person shooters they suck on this system. Starwars, Coded arms, I have both and regeret them. I enjoyed Liberty City stories. Namco museum, Pinball, If your son likes platformer games death Jr is fun. PSP9 is a great free program to re-encode video for the PSP and transfer. Get the 19.99 Datel kit with the car mount, and my favorite ergo handle with extra battery built in.

more than overkill for saving games. It comes in great for videos, transcode your videos for watching on the psp, thats what PSP video 9 calls the conversion to mpg4.
The Sony kit comes with a small 32Mb mem card, Ok for saving games on. I use the small card with my games so I can experiment with the 1Gb card

To those who've downgraded firmware for obvious reasons....convince me that it's safe to do. I never got up enough courage to try it. I didn't want a brick.

I had to upgrade the OS to run the newer titles it is painless. it comes on the UMD if the games requires it. make sure to charge it fully and have it plugged in during the upgrade.
why would you want to downgrade the OS? For backwards compatability to small shop written apps?
