I have Digital Cable...but I also have Dish network for some international programming that suits our family. Right now I am at odds with them. I've had the regular dish for 8 years, then last year my kids wanted a music channel that was only available with the SuperDish upgrade. I do it..they throw the original dish off the roof and into my yard. No biggie, I store it for a while then dumped it. Now a year later, the music channel disappears. I call Dish Network and they say it was integrated into a music "package" for an additional fee. OK. I sign up and wait the 10 minutes for the programming to go thru. Nothing. An hour, nothing. I call back....and after 2 hours on the phone, they tell me that I now need a regular dish and receiver in addition to my upgraded Superdish...at a cost of around $300. I am going to do it for my kids....but I am way PO'd.

I bought my first one at Circuit City a Sony 40 hour DVR, $99.99 after rebates with 3 months free Showtime, HBO and Starz.

When I started having problems that they couldn't fix they offered me a free 100 Hour Phillips DVR with 1 year commitment.

I like there program choices better than dish.

recording, stop play, reverse make tv watching more enjoyable with DVR.

With DTV, you simply get their oval dish with a triple LNB and you can get everything they have. One mini-dish not two and at the frog choker of $300!

I get the Sirius music channels on my SuperDish as well as some others. Is that what you lost, Dawn? Which channel disappeared? The SuperDish is good because it picks up local area channels as well as some other programming.

Since hubby is from Egypt, we have the Arab Package. My girls like the contemporary Middleastern Music and videos 'cuz they say the guys are "hot" That and they like to belly dance

The other thing I like about DISH is I bought their stock back in 1997 when I first got their service. It was the equivalent of $2.14 (after splits) compared to today's price of $32. One of my best investments with a 16 fold increase.

I have used oth dish and directv on and off over the last 10ish years or so, it was the best thing to have while in the military, no local cable crap to hook up just move with your dish, etc.., but now that we have digital cable in our area we went with the whole package (cable, internet and phone), saves some cash:-)

For those of you with tivo/directtivo, are you using that hidden remote code to skip 30 secs through the commercials?
While playing back a recorded show, hit select - play - select - 3 - 0 - select
you should hear some beeps, etc.. then the little button to the right of fast fwd will skip 30 seconds each push!
I'm still running a standard tivo up in the bedroom, and can't live without that feature:-)
