    Default Pots don't adjust volume

I have installed pots on my Sinbad in the same fashion as I did on my Beast Sapp. I can adjust the sound on the Rt speaker, but nothing happens on the Lt when I adjust the Lt pot. The volume stays the same.

I have tried installing a different Pot and have tried splicing it into a different area closer to the speaker with no results. The volume adjusts using the slider, but not with the pot.

    Any ideas???

I don't see how thats even possible. If your resisting power on the positive speaker wire the sound has to lower. Could the pot be on the neg. wire? Wow thats a good one, this will cause a lot of head scratching.

Me neither... The pot on the Rt speaker adjusts fine. Nothing happens with the pot on the other speaker. I thought I had a bad pot at first, but changing it did nothing. Then I thought that maybe I was at the wrong wire. Tried a different location... nothing.

I am confused... And my Lt speaker is still too damn loud.

???? Its attached to the speaker... should I check for something else? Should I try splicing into the white wire?

It shouldnt matter which wire you are using. Which pots are you using? Are you soldering them? Just test one without soldering to see if works before you do the soldering. Maybe there getting too hot from the soldering?

Try this it might help as well. this way you wont put strain on the leads while you are attaching them to the wire.Remember these pots were to be soldered to a pc board hence the delicate leads. http://www.pachitalk.com/forums/show...+cannot+solder

How does it sound when you just cut the wire and not put in the pot? (do you have the right wire?)

If I do not have the wires attached, I get no sound from the Lt speaker

    Eddie,

Thanks for your help and suggestions (thanks to everyone else who gave me suggestions also. I love this site).

I did as you suggested. I taped the pot to the speaker wire using electrical tape and viola... It seems to be working fine.

    Which means:

    1. I had several bad pots

    2. I am very bad at soldering and I have been frying the pots.

I am gonna have to guess number 2.
