    I'm not certain about what it's used for on Spiderman, but it's very likely to be for the same purpose as on Sankyo machines, where it is used to clear the error codes without resetting the entire machine.

    ie. if there was a ball jam during a fever payout in a parlour, you wouldn't want to have to power cycle the machine or do a hard reset, to clear the error codes, in front of a customer when he is still owed his prize from the machine. So this button can be discreetly pressed after removing the jammed balls.

    As at least from my experience with UK fruit machines, the punters always seem to think that you're trying to con them out of their win by resetting/power cycling the machine while they're still owed something from it.
