    Default Rapid Fire

Here is the latest from Taiyo called Rapid Fire which is the heir to my favored Penguin and Apollo machines, also from Taiyo. These games are called Arepachi, a trademark owned by Taiyo Electric. They belong to a special class of games first made in 1972, called Arrangement Ball. They used to be very popular but because of changes in the gaming laws, their manufacture was halted until many years later in 1982, when further law changes allowed for their re-release.

They are not your typical and more familiar, modern digital slot type Pachinko called Dejipachi, in that you have varied targets to shoot for in sequence in order to win the big payout. Each game round involves shooting only 16 balls after which the winnings are calculated and the next round is started.

There is also a separate yet interrelated game as well, using the 16 ball pockets at the bottom above the exit gate. Here the object is to hit four or more adjacent pockets to win an increasing prize amount determined by the number of pockets hit multiplied by a special x2 bonus pocket.

Anyhow, I especially enjoy these games for their more relaxed game style, and the additonal required skill to play them well. A nice change of pace from the frenzied "shoot as many balls as you can" game.

This is the first Arepachi game that I've seen that incorporates a video LCD screen.

Thanks dishpan, I agree with you. I really enjoy these type of machines. I play my rebuilt "Penguin" more than any other machine I have. There is so much to keep track of.

    1. Getting four balls in row in the bottom gates.
    2. Hitting the sixtenth gate to double your balls.
    3. Doing all of this while trying to open the start gate.
    4. And remembering you only have 16 balls to do it.

They are extremely exciting to play. And I look forward to buying one of these.

John, what's your record for the most consecutive balls in the bottom gates, with or without the x2 bonus?

I am still impressed by the artwork on the Penguin machine. Perfection! That black stylized cell artwork set against the striking yellow case gets everyones' attention when I have company over. What other machine even comes close?

Oh...... and BTW , how does Rapid Fire play ? I was considering it for a while when I couldn't get a penguin machine...... how does the mechanics of the bridge work ? also how do you find the LCD.... plenty of interesting variety , reaches etc ?
