Gas Prices to $3 poll.

If gas prices increase to $3 a gallon, which they say will happen by the end of Summer will you decrease your driving by 20% or more?

I only drive about 100 miles a week, I fill up every 2 weeks, so i won't change.

Most of my trips are to Goodwill and Post Office

I already decreased my driving but any Shows & Flea Markets I will have to drive to. My store is near my home and I drive there and back all the time. unless I am loading stock I will be riding my Bike there this Summer. Gas Prices $UCK! Mike : )

wished gas was that cheap over hear so if gas went to 3usd aprox 1.75bps the i would increse my driving

Well yeah, but you don't have nearly the territory to cover we do. Drive too far over there and you'll be fishing.

I commute by motorcycle all year around even with the price increase it has hit $3.00 here for premium which I use it is still affordable. If I had a car I would sell it for a Motorcycle.

I only drive about 1,000 miles a year, yes that little, most places are with in walking area.
So 20% less would be only 800 miles

I've already cut my travel back... now just to work and back.
Gas hit $2.65 a gallon around here today already.
Shopping trips for us average 70-80 miles to the "big" cities, round trip... and many of those have been consolidated or cancelled altogether.

To save much more, I'd have to quit working?

Let's organize a "Gas Flu" day, where people call in "sick" because they can't afford to drive to work that day. That ought to shake up the economy a bit, and maybe get the politician's attention.
The "Don't Buy Gas" days don't work... people just buy it at a different time.
But if it's not used at all for a day... well...

If you have a clean record and at least 21 its not as bad as one would think.....

The wife thinks I am crazy but if I have to grab a couple small items from the store or wal-mart, I use my scooter that I bought off of my lil brother. speed limit around here is 40. it goes 45mph, and the worst gas mileage I have gotten was 57mpg... If wife is home, I do all of my running on the scooter. laugh if you must but I'm not the only person out there on a scooter. the local honda shop said in the last 16months their scooter sales have almost tripled due to gas prices...

Well it's ether I spend the money on gas to go to work or hmmm do I really need to pay my bills? I used to drive to the bosses house then go with the other guys to the job. When my son got sick and I needed to stay overnight at the hospital with him I started driving myself. Then I could be called at any time to leave work so I kept doing so. Now I don't need to but It is worth the extra I pay in gas. I average 15 minuets more it takes me to get to the job sites if I drive myself with total time of 45 minuets. If I went to the bosses it would take me 30 minuets just to get there then sit in the back of a cargo van the 45 minuets to the job. Then I earn more because I get there before the others and stay later if I want to. Before I had to leave when the foremen decided he had worked long enough.

Since retirement, driving miles have decreased considerably but I don't think gas prices will make a big difference. Miles to go and games to buy!
