    Default Shooting

I have a Remington 700 .308 rifle on which I had put a relatively inexpensive scope. It was frustrating because although I knew the rifle was capable of accurate shots (it's used by many snipers), my shots were all over the place. So, I splurged a bit and got a new Leupold scope off eBay. Today I went to sight it in and holy cow did it make a difference!

Mind you, the scope was still not aimed quite right, but check out this grouping at 100 yards. This was with only a front bag for support, shooting prone. Four out of the five shots hit within an area less than an inch across.

The lesson: Never put a cheap scope on a nice rifle!
