Default another slot machine stand question.

As most of you know My family and I moved to a different part of the state. We could not find a home that tickled our toes, and the mother inlaw is about to be killed, so we settled for a 6 month lease on a town house. My question is, I had a home made slot machine stand that the buyers wanted left in the basement. I can't very well build another one and attatch it to the wall or floor and lil one is beginning to learn how to climb. Since the machines will moreless be in plain view of all company, I want to get some cheap but nice looking "stands" Looked at wal-mart tonight and found the height I wanted but since I can't mount them to the floor or wall I was wandering how deep I should have the base so that I don't have to worry about lil one tipping them over. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

Bolt the machine to the stand, that should make it stable enough.

This is what I do: after balancing the machine on the stand so it's center of gravity is working towards stability, I drill two 3/4" or 1" indents with a forstner bit, then 1/4" holes inside the base of the pachislo, through the stand on a diagonal one near front, one near back. I use two stove bolts with washers top and bottom, and a locking washer and nut to tighten it up to the stand. I've noted some minor movement when an over enthusiastic guest "punches' the stop buttons, but not much chance of toppling.

I usually have to reinforce the backs of the stands I buy (from Office Depot) with a thick MDF or plywood back so as to keep the stand square and eliminate any side to side movement and I've also added braces for the top and bottom, but these aren't really necessary, I just over-engineer things out of habit.

If your machines are against a wall, it is a simple project to just put a small and narrow screw through the machine back (you can use an existing hole in the back of the machine) and into the wall itself. Much like hanging a picture. It doesn't have to "hang" the machine, it just needs to keep it from tipping forward.

I also use carpenter's glue (Elmers) when I assemble particle board or similar stands. Really seems to help.

Not to hijack the thread, but token dispensing is something I've tried to wrap my "engineering on the cheap" head around and haven't figured out how to do it yet. RIght now I have beer buckets full of coins that get "poured" into plastic beer cups for players (to the first rim, mine hold very close to 250 tokens, or $50 worth - so it's a good measure).

Same system used here. All my machines have mugs by them which hold 300 tokens when filled to nearly the top. I'd say this system is accurate to within about 5 tokens. Also, a good measure to count winnings after a bonus round.
