Default Re: Power Flash in my area

Ok... the machine is now in my possesion. After doing an in depth inspection there I agreed to pay the seller the full asking price of $150. Over all the machine is in good shape but as normal has lots of dust and 'bug dirt'. The cell is in great condition with no fading with all the labels which all appear to be vibrant. Now for what's wrong.

There was some 'modifications' made to prevent the empty hopper devices from preventing balls from being shot. Due to this, several of the wires have been bent and contorted.

Also, the plastic holding bracket is broken that holds the wire that leads to the overflow tray lever that is used to shut off the ball feed when the tray is too full. I believe this plastic piece could be easily 'fixed'.

Each of the tulips has a wire that extends into the solinoid layer that is used to manipulate the opening and closing. The wire on the lower right (Clubs) jack pocket appears to be missing. All others seem to be there and function OK.

All the solinoids are there and move freely and the wires appears to be intact and non-corroded, but I was unable to test them.

There is no transformer so no way to test and someone will have to purchase one.

I did check out the jackpot wing device and it worked with the few balls that were still in the machine along with the jackpot rocker and winning ball release. In my opinion, this machine is 90% ready to run.

So... I have a few that have expressed interest since I'm just a 'middle man' here I think this is what I will do. My preference to whom gets the machine goes like this provided they have the cash to purchase and pay for shipping. Shipping cost will be exact cost to ship. I plan on making no money here. Now, here's my order of preference:

1. Some one who has no power flash will be on top of the list.
2. Next will be someone who has a t-bird but not the little man.
3. Anyone else.

The idea here is to get these machines 'spread out' to members wanting but no having. Soon we'll all have one!

Mbodi contacted me first but he has recently acquired to and agrees with my order of preference above. So right now that leaves Siouxzan and emmadog. If you two will tell me where you fit on the preference list we can see where things go. If anyone else fits this list and want to add their name to the lottery please reply here. If I get multiple people who don't have a PF and has the cash then I'll just put all the names in a 'hat' and pull one out as the 'winner'.

This sound fair to all?

I like your selection criteria, very fair. So I'm interested only if Siouxsan( or anyone else due to price or whatever) is not. Rescuing PF's is a hobby of mine. Thanks.

Good idea Mopar.. but.. I think I'll leave the donation option up to the recepient. I really don't want to 'sell it' for more than I paid as that's what I told the seller I would do. However, if the person who ends up with this wants to make a donation on their own to PachiTalk (seeing how it was this website that got them the machine) that is totally their option and will have no bearing on the purchase. I don't even want to know if the do or don't.

As for the spring.. yes, the complete spring assembly including the aduster bracket is missing. Sorry I left that bit for information out on the previous posting. Thanks Mopar for reminding!

Mopar, I picked up a 24 VAC 2 amp transformer at Radio Shack for the T-bird powerflash for $10. Works fine for the solenoids. Had 3 wires on the secondary side. I used the 2 black, is the yellow the splitter wire?

Hey MBodi,

I guessed at the type of transformer you purchased ( Model: 273-1512 | Catalog #: 273-1512 ) and found their online documentation for here. Here it is in it's entirety:

25.2VAC
 2A
POWER TRANSFORMER
NOTE:

The 2 black wires on one side are for 120V input. The 2 yellow
and 1 black wires on the other side are for output:

one yellow wire + one black wire = 12.6V output

one yellow wire + one yellow wire = 25.2V output
Important:

Do not join together all three output wires, as this will cause the
transformer to short-circuit.

But from your message above.. it appears that their documentation has the color coding on the output the exact opposite of what truly exist.

Thanks Rusty.
Thats the one I bought. Didn't come with any paperwork.
Thats will save me setting up a 9 volt battery for the lights.

yes the 2 black are for the 24 to the solenoids then splice into one black and the yellow that will give ya 12 for the lights...

your lights are probably made for 10 volts but thats not any real issue.. they will burn out a bit faster having to much power but the benifit is they will be brigter.. when they do finaly burn out u can either buy the same so there bright or buy 12 volt so they last longer but are not as bright

I haven't heard from Siouxzan yet on if they are interested in this machine... and I'm not sure if everyone has had time to see this post. So I'm gonna wait until tomorrow evening to 'pick a winner'.

Here's how the process will work. Once the lucky person is selected they will be notified here. They will then be expected to send to me the full cost of the machine purchase of $150 along with their shipping information. I will then pack and ship the machine and 'invoice' them for the shipping. Once they receive the shipping amount they can get that amount to me. This way we are only paying the true shipping amounts. If there are fees to be paid for the money transfer (paypal, etc.) then I would like for the buyer to pay for those as well. I figured this process will be the easiest and will insure we get the exact amounts transferred with out over or under pay.

Good luck!

Sorry about the delay. I didn't get online to get my pachitalk fix last night.
I really appreciate all your help and the opportunity, but I'm going to bow out of this one. Between others that really want/need this machine, and the fact that I have 3 pachis in various states of restoration, I'm going to try and live without it for now.
Hopefully another will come along. If it were an Arepachi, well, that'd be different.

As of now here's how it stands.

I have two parties interested that do not currently own a PowerFlash, their IDs are ConventryCat and Spherejunky.

I have 3 parties that are interested that currently have PFs and their IDs are: MudFud, Emmadog and mbodi.

I stated that I would give it a bit more time before the selection is made for the new ownership, so if any of the above names do not want to be on the list or if you want to add your name to the list...

.. do so soon!

Well I am sure appreciative of the time effort and trouble you have went to on behalf of Pachi talk members. Whoever gets it should feel lucky that they are members of a fantastic community with people like you for members.

May the best NONOWNER get lucky. Everybody should have at least one of each kind.

Now who was saying anything about arepachis???

Besides which they are more rare than powerflashs as we have found out over the last six months. And as far as cost I would say that an arepachi is more expensive because if you watched the way fed ex and ups handled packages you would not ship an arepachi if you had any other choice to get it. Too many things to go wrong in an arepachi unless your name is Eddie and you can tear one down and put it back together. That lets me out and a whole lot of other people. Besides which I would give up my Powerflashes before I would part with an arepachi.

Seeing as how neither is going to happen it is a mute point.
